Injured Abernethy to miss opener

Pete Abernethy who as reported yesterday suffered a concussion wakeboarding in the weekend will miss the opening indoor cricket match this Thursday the 18th after seeing a doctor.

Abernethy saw physio Ian Sim today and the verdict was not what he was hoping. Sim, a former Olympic physio gave orders to miss at least one week after the accident left Abernethey with inner bruising on the neck and a possability of strains on 7 neck joints.

Pete Abernety was reported as saying that he was sorry he couldn't play and knew the side would miss him.

Abernethy's injury has opened the door for either Morgan Trowland or Colin Roxbrugh. It is likely the selectors will opt for the latter to make his debut. We await Rene Smith's selection for the opening game.
