Quan Yin Temple And Tsai Li Fo San Soo | ||||
The story that the art of Tsai Li Fo San Soo came from the Quan (Kwan) Yin temple is false and a complete misnomer (unsuitable term to describe something or somebody). This story like so many others surrounding things Chan Duk (aka; Jimmy H. Woo) said, got its start because many of his students could not fully understand what he was trying to say. This was mostly due to his heavy accent, broken English and lack of knowledge of the proper words to use to describe things. Because of this unintentional misinterpretation, there now exist a state of complete and utter misrepresentation of where the art of Tsai Li Fo San Soo (shou) came from. While the Quan Yin played a part in the history of the art, it had nothing whatsoever to do with the development of the art. The art Did Not come from the Quan Yin nor was it developed there, but rather it came from the Buddhist Shaolin Temples reaching its zenith (point of perfect) around 960 A.D. When Chan Duk would say "the art came from the Quan Yin", he was talking about something totally unrelated to the origin of the Five Family style. This is why so many san soo stylists have a problem fitting the puzzle pieces of the Quan Yin into the rest of Tsai Li Fo san soo history. |
