Thomas Brothers Map: LA, pg 822, G5

Located just west of Long Point off Palos Verdes Dr. South, next to the Point Vicente Lighthouse. The parking lot is on Palos Verdes Dr,

Notes: Cardiac Hill, very long trail and very steep.  If you are not in excellent condition, this dive may not be for you.

Entry: beach or rocks

Depth :15 to 50 feet

Parking: free in lined spaces adjacent to Palos Verdes Drive.

Facilities: Restrooms and drinking fountain.

The Dive: Great spot in spite of the hike.

Dive 1: Head out to the rocks on the east side of the cove and continue around toward Marineland (the rocks get bigger the further you go). I

Dive 2: In the center of the cove there's low patch reef with occasional kelp beds.

Dive 3: On the west side, there's typical rocky reef continuing out toward Whale Rock (the big rock below the lighthouse), which is really cool diving if you can get that far. The rock drops down to about 60 feet in the sand. There's often a current running, but it is usually flowing back toward the cove so it helps with the swim back.

In the past we have descended the path to the point where the main trail turns and a small “goat” path bears to the right. Diving has been off the rocks at the bottom of the path
