Which baton suits which ritual?
This is a temporary page, while I’m finishing my research on the matter.
This may take quite some time as real life is keeping me rather busy. The final
result should end up at http://users.pandora.be/LaoTzu/Priests
As well as using Vedri’s .refer as a guide, Sined’s information on http://beam.to/sined (Priestly information,
Charging Rods) proved invaluable.
Charging four different batons with major shield to impressed, I got the
following result:
|

gp |
dp/90 |
gp/27000 |

Whether or not it is actually correct, I have no idea. But the following
formula seems to do the trick:
Total gp needed = base ritual gp * SF * (AF)2
SF is named Sined’s factor, as I blatantly took it from his website: 300
to reach impressed, 750 to reach imprinted
AF is my own little contribution, Affinity factor. Which is the dp it
takes to bestow, divided by the base gp.
Below follows a list of all batons and their AF for each ritual.
Notes:
- There might be a handful of factors I’m missing. However the above
formula proved accurate enough in my own tests
- There are many things that affect how much dp it takes to bestow.
Tithes, reduced ritual costs, being near or far away from holy ground, align,
etc. However, these things do not influence the gp needed to impress or
imprint. So I tried to eliminate all the factors I could think of, except for
being at my high altar.
- There is some inaccuracy in the AF for some rituals: For example, I think all values around 1.75 should actually be 1.75. The minor effect of being at the high altar might’ve caused the difference. Or I might’ve prayed a little too recently.

Once I finish
charging the faith rods I promised to various people, I’ll have a look into the
affinities of various canes, maces and rods.
As people who
have charged multi-slot rods for themselves would’ve noticed, charging them is
rather unpredictable. Hopefully by the time I’m done I know a bit more as to
why they act funny…
