Myth About the Rescued Boxer
Many people are under the assumption that rescued or shelter dogs have something wrong with them and that is why they end up where they are, unwanted.  This myth has been around for a long time, and it is just that, a myth.  These dogs end up in shelters and rescue programs for many reasons.  They become lost from their families and were never found, they were turned in by relatives because of death or terminal illness of the dogs family member, the family has to move or relocate and cannot take their pets with them, birth of additional children, job changes, allergies, medical treatment of the pet they cannot afford to provide.  The most common is "We just don't have the time to give the dog the attention it needs."  The list is endless.
Boxers are very loyal, trusting, devoted, loving and want nothing more than to be with you and to please you.  Boxers have been classified as velcro dogs, they have to be near and interact with their family members.  They make wonderful, loving pets, especially in homes with children, and have been classified as as a great all-around family pet.  They are typical house dogs and are unable to tolerate extreme heat or cold.  They also require alot of exercise, and a fenced yard is ideal to release that pent up energy and do the famous BOXER BURN.

Boxers enjoy training and are very adapt pupils.  They are highly intelligent, eager to please, and versitle dogs.  They are classified in the working dog class for good reason, and thrill at being able to perform a job.  They have become more popular in agility trials; they are being trained and used in service dog work, therepy dog and companion dogs for the disabled or handicapped.  They are also recognized as THE CLOWN of the canine world, this title they do not take lightly.
