I don't know much about animation shop, but I have produced a few animations, so I thought I would share wht little knowledge I do have with you.
First you need to either have acquired a graphic to use or created it yourself.  Then you
need to decide how many frames you think it might take to make your animation appear the way you would like it to.
Remember, the more frames, the more kb and the longer it will take to load.  At this point you need to make that many frames, making each one slightly different, in the area where the animation will appear being careful not to move anything else out of place.  I find it easier when I get to animation shop if I have just numbered each of my graphics consecutively in the order I want to use them.  Don't forget to resize your graphic prior to saving it in psp in psp format.  When you have saved all the graphics you are going to need to complete your animation, close psp and open animation shop.  Click the dim icon beneath "file" and it will open up animation wizard.
From this point, you are sorta on your own.  Anything I have done so far, I have left what I assume is the default  checked "sames size as the first image frame", click next.  I usually mark "transparent" on this page but not sure why.  Click 'next'.  You are on your own on this page.  Click 'next'.  Personal preference mostly on this page, however, I find that for most animations I like to set it at 100 and they don't apear as jerky, smoother except the clock I did,  I did at 25 and it runs pretty smooth.  click 'next'.  This is the page you add your graphics you just saved in psp in the order you want them to apper, entering them each one at a time (if you have a glitch at the end/beginning of the cycle, you have probably duplicated a frame, just try removing either the first or last and do it again and see if you like it any better.)  Click next.  Click finish.  Now you can view your animation by clicking the next to last icons at the top right.  If you like what you see, you can save by clicking 'file', save as, give it a name, click 'save' , click ' finish' and I generally just accept all defult setting from here as compression seems to interfere with quality of graphic more in animation shop than in psp for some reason.  I like to check my finished product by inserting them into a  wordpad  or an empty email where I can see them better.
