Simply sandi's PSP8 text tutorial |
I have taken it upon myself to attempt to write my first tutorial using psp8, LOLOL. Talk about the blind leading the blind. Anyhow, here we go. It is a text tutorial and I have just discovered how neat psp8 text tool can be, so had to tell everyone what I had stumbled on by accident. Not sure how much you might use this, but here we go. After highlighting your text, you can experiment with stuff until you find something you like, you can even change the colors, patterns and gradients either the whole text or a letter at a time. If we do the text as a vector, we can still change our minds about the colors later, so that is what we will do for this tutorial. When setting the colors, the foreground color will end up being your dot colors and the background will be the inside color. 1. Open a new image, I used 350 x 150. I almost always add a new layer before starting in case I want a background or to add something beneath. Activate your text tool, place your cursor on your image and left click, A text entry box willpop up, check create as vector and add your text. 2. Take your cursor and highlight the text you just entered in the text box. While you have this highlighted you can change anything you want on your text. Now for the fun part, you can experiment here with different fonts and different line styles if you like, but here is what I did 3. Go to your tool options menu for the text tool and change the font, I am using Arial size 50, change the stroke to .05, click on Bold, change the line style to "spikes" and click apply. 4. Go to effects, bevel, I used stamped metal preset for the bevel, but feel free to use whatever bevel you prefer. 5. Duplicate the layer, flip and line the dots up next to each other almost touching, click on the deformation tool and hold the shift key, grab the bottom middle node and pull to the right. 6. Merge all and save. Hope you have been enlightened by this tutorial. You have my permission to share the url to any of my tutorials you would like. This tutorial was written and placed here 7-5-2003. Thanks for trying my tutorial. Sandisuetoo (simply sandi) |
