Remember, when you get a pet for your child for a birthday, Christmas present or whatever the reason, you know you are going to be the one ending up taking care of the pet. Are you ready to take on a long time commitment? Your pet is hyper, are you going to take time for the pet to grow out of this stage? Puppies are going to chew up things, it is a fact, are you going to spend some time and play with the pet, give it chew toys and exercise to help tone down its active and chewing nature. Remember, puppies some do at least like to nip you when they play, they are being playful not mean as some people think, Okay, the place where you live, does the pet have enough space and does your pet have a fenced in area so as not to get hit by a car, or end up running in other people's yards, causing neighbors to call. Keep your pet protected, if it is going to be an outside pet, then get a fence, if it is an inside pet, train it, spend time with it. Get your pet the shots it needs Be responsible, a pet is a long time commitment, sometimes a pet may inconvience you some, but don't go taking it to the pound just because you got tired of the pet. Get your pet neutered or spayed, be responsible, too many oops babies are born because you were not responsible enough to get your pet neutered, or because you did not lock up your pet that was in heat and it had a mixed breed instead of the breed you intended, so off to the pound go these mixed pups. Oh you think, these cute pups and/or dogs or other animals will find a home at the Pound, WRONG, most are put to Death. Do you think when you meet the Maker, will your pet that you took to the pound and was put to death be there? Will you be held responsible in the Eyes of the Maker for the death of this Animal, I Think So!!!! If you get a pet, be in it for the long term, love it, feed it, water it, walk it, play with it, Teach it, they are smarter than you think and are trainable. What ticks me off are people who get kicks out of Dog Fights, being cruel to animals, abandoning them on the side of the road, or moving to another City or State and leaving the animal to fend for itself. Be RESPONSIBLE for God Sake. Don't Be Cruel, Don't chain them up, sometimes chaining an animal can make one aggressive. Get a Fence, make sure the fence has plenty of running room, not some little couped up pen. Get your pet a Dog House to get out of cold, bring pet in when weather is real cold, Don't use cedar shavings bad on their lungs, use pine if you use shavings. Don't use pine needles as this breeds fleas and ticks. If you want a Best Friend, Go to the Pound Today: Adopt a Pound Animal, Save A Life, They make GREAT Companions. |
