"Christmas Tree Angel"
I once had a daughter fair and sweet.
The Lord gave her for our Christmas Tree.
She was so fair and dear to me,
But he took her one Christams Eve.
All night and all day we watched.
But not one word said she.
Then just before dawn on Christmas Eve.
These soft words she said to me.
Don't you cry my Mama Dear.
Tell Papa not to feel blue.
For the angels are beckoning to me.
They want me for their Christmas tree.
Now we're all alone this Christmas Eve.
Just her darling Papa and me.
But as I sit here gazing at our Christmas tree.
A wonderful vision I see.
I can see her face on our Christmas tree.
She takes the angels place.
And as I sit here gazing at her dear sweet face.
It seems she says to me.
Don't you cry my Mama dear.
Tell Papa not to feel blue.
For the angels are beckoning to me.
They want me for their Christmas tree.
