"Hard Times"
Been through life
with the choices I've made.
Been through hard times,
been down and afraid.
Just me and my children.
No money, no job.
Alone in my solitare
I wanted to lay down and sob.
Not too many choices
that were destined for me.
Had to hold my head up.
Stand on my own two feet.
No car, No cash, No sitter and
No one to turn too.
Life was a hell hole
making me miserable and blue.
Holding on to my babies
is what kept me strong.
Made me stick to the right choices
instead of doing wrongs.
Could have taken the wrong path.
Could have just ran and gave in.
Could have turned to the drugs.
Could have wound up in the pen.
All the choices I made
were out of self pride and respect.
I dealt with the hands
that I found in my deck
I stand tall now
with the choices I chose.
I stood with dignity!
Got my life back in controll.
Sometimes looking back
at those hard times in need.
Knowing it made me stronger
and made me determined
to succeed.
