By Faith
1 Kings 19: 11-13

Over the calm ocean
The wind blows
It scatters the waves, the foam, and the salt
The tide rolls
Under the moon
Like it’s on an undecided path
Unforeseen, unforetold
It ripples
Sending blind signals to the lonely shore
The wind picks up
Jumps the moon
Makes the stars twinkle in the black sky
Giving full away
Its secretiveness
For all the world to see

Just as the wind
Commands the ocean
I hear the voice of God
Not as thunder
Or as fire
But as a whisper in my soul
He speaks with love
With beauty
Sometimes revealing, consoling, guiding
I know not
From where it comes
This Voice that stills the waters, calms the storms
By sight or by faith
By day or by night
I’ll let It guide me through the storms of life
