In answer to a fervent prayer
An angel was sent down
Into the den where Daniel prayed
Where lions made no sound.

Hundreds of years before wise men
Would worship on bended knee,
The Spirit of God gave peace to man
And a prophet slept like a baby.

Silent night, holy night -
How does this Spirit dwell
When evil kings and mortal men
Seek to destroy Noel?

When hunger, hatred, guilt, and fear
Fall over all the earth,
Where is this peace and silent rest
That heralds holy birth?

This is peace when all the world
In quiet slumber lies,
While Satan and his evil host
Wince at a Baby’s cry.

A newborn wrapped in swaddling clothes -
All around Him, heavenly calm.
The Christ Child sleeps– son of God and man -
Like a baby - safe and warm.
Like a Baby
Daniel 6:21-22; Luke 2:11-12
