Back to Updates]
Oct. 22
- . . . and then one month later, he comes back.To be honest, I think future updates will be monthly, if not slightly earlier, because of the time necessary to update and introduce new pages. I'm still working on the Photo Page. It's now just a matter of choosing the photos to post on the site. Check back in a month!
New: Tried to get the ol' Resume up. Any employers out there? Check it out!
Nothing else new for now. I, and two other capable students, competed in the Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition. It was fun, even though we didn't make it to the Semi-Final round. Well, next year, McGeorge should send more than one team. That should assure that McGeorge will have proper representation at the competition!
Anyway, nothing else. Finally getting back into studying for classes. Outlines, here I come!

- Ok, ok, it's been almost a month since my last update. Not much to update, as a matter of fact, but I have been pretty damned busy since classes started up again. With work and classes, I've been pretty busy trying to get back in the swing of things. Any lawyers or other fellow 3rd years probably can relate. It's not the same and it's a lot more difficult to get into studying again. Oh well, if you gotta, you gotta.
About this site: Photo page hopefully up by the end of next week. Resume by Wednesday, weather permitting [that's a joke, people!]. The APALSA site is on hold, temporarily, until the organization gives me the info to put on it.
That's about it! Thanks for visiting [hey, over 250 people, so far! Good traffic, spread the word!]

- NEW: For those that are interested, I attached the McGeorge APALSA history. There are some questionable data that needs to be clarified so if you have any info, please email me and let me know. If you have any information on APALSA/AALSA events prior to 1973, even though the organization was not officially chartered, please let me know so I can include that info in the history. Also, I added a couple of logos to the
Links page, the Dance Hall Crashers and the McGeorge Web Site for all those who are looking into Law Schools. I'll add more info for the Law page next weekend...hopefully.I've also archived the past month's Updates for those who are really too damn curious about how I've been developing this site.
Check it out, if you dare!Already, it's been a busy year, and I've only had one day of classes. 3rd year seems like it will be a long one. OY!

- I got them! Both the poster and Dream Catcher are doing very well, thank you very much.Ok, about that photo...what a mix of reactions! Women, generally, have disapproved, Men, on the other hand, were pretty much supportive. I don't think it sleazy, and while I'm single, hey, what the heck? Realistically, I don't think I will ever date any of those women...though it would be nice to have the opportunity! So, if any of you girls actually ever check in, drop me a line, tell me what you think. No worries!
NEW: I downloaded the most recent copy of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act from Westlaw and have added it via the
LAW page. For those who are interested in Copyright Law on the Internet and US compliance with the Berne Convention, check it out!Until later, PAX!

- Whoohoo! I've Moved! After 20+ hours of moving things from the old place to the new pad, I'm tired, dammit. And get this, stupid me left my Kim Taylor Reece poster and my Dreamcather. Dang it! I gotta go back tomorrow and hopefully then I'llbe finished moving all of my stuff. Not that I've unpacked, yet, but at least I'll have all the junk here. By the by, Thanks to two giving individuals who donated their time after work tohelp me load the last two car loads last night: Brian "Saucey" Visovsky and Joe Carroll. I still can't figure out how I accumulated so much stuff! About 4 boxes of clothes, not including my suits and shoes; 4 boxes of binders, some from first year, some from this year, and some for APALSA; and papers! Man, do I got papers. I think I should christen the fireplace with a little bon fire, what do you say?p.s.: Kim Taylor Reece is a photographer who specialized on Hawaiian kahiko, or old style, hula. The one I have has been with me since DVC and was a gift from my good friends there who gave me a surprise party for my transfer to Cal...well, I got the poster as well as quite a few charlie horses...OY!
A Dreamcatcher is a Native American article made, traditionally, of one or two twigs, tied into a circle with sinew. In the middle of the circle was a 'web' made of sinew. You hang these dream catchers usually where you sleep, or near your doorway. The idea is that dreams must pass this article before coming to you. Good dreams pass through undisturbed and are free to join with you. Bad dreams, or nightmares, get entangled in the web and are prevented from haunting you in your dreams.
I've seen dream catchers more often in the last few years, but usually the smaller, pastel colored ones that are hung from the rearview mirror in cars. Those are sometimes made of sinew, but the twig is wrapped in brightly colored leather strips. My personal preference is the one I have, which kept the wood bare and it isn't in a perfect circle. It is more natural and organic and something which, if anything, can have true power over dreams.
Man, I gotta get those things tomorrow!
Thanks for reading,
Pax

- Whoohoo! I'm moving!! This Thursday! Can you dig it? And what does this mean? It means I'll be broke until I get my next pay check. But other than that, it also means that I will not have the time to make further major changes until this weekend, so please bear with me!This site has been up and running, in one form or another, for over a month and the reviews have been kind! Many thanks to those who emailed me to tell me what they thought, and a bigger thanks to those who signed my guest book. Check it out and sign in if you haven't already. If you don't like your message after you send it, let me know and I can delete it [it's one of the perks of being a web master. Hey!, I'm a Web master. Sweeet! So, how about a new name, Web Master Ravi's Incomprehensible Web Page! ?]
New idea: Think of a good name for this web site. If I get many selections, I'll post them up for a vote.
Send me your choices! The best name will get ...well, I hadn't thought it out that far, but I'll send the winner something of gratitude. If they all suck, I'll just keep changing the name at will.By the by, I recently bought the latest Dance Hall Crashers CD, titled "Honey, I'm homely!". It's pretty good. It's a lot more diverse than their last album and shows some growth for recording in a studio. If you like Ska/Punk/Pop music, you gotta check it out for some upbeat music that's a lot of fun to listen to. They also got a web page that has the latest info, tour dates [though they're not touring anymore for this album], Ska goodies, and interviews. Stop by the
Dance Hall Crashers Web Site! You won't regret it!Thanks for checking in.

July 27
- Hello, again, and it's been a long time since I've updated this here puppy, so I'll be doing some work most of this week.HEY, Some people are logging on and not signing the guestbook. What's up with that? Drop a line, say hi, or whatever. It's been almost a month and only three people, including me, have actually left a message. C'mon people. Let's get some shout outs on there!
Future plans now include the possibility of linking up with the McGeorge homepage with the APALSA Page I'm planning. For those of you who don't know, I've been slowly gathering historical data on the organization and I've recently come across files, courtesy of Blanche Spencer, that have documentation of the chartered organization as far back as 1973. So, APALSA will be 25 years old, and not 20 like I've assumed. Of course, the organization was originally known as the Asian American Law Students Association, or AALSA. I still can't determine when the name changes occurred, but perhaps the new name is 20 years old, while the club itself is 25.
Classes start soon [Aug. 19,to be exact], so my updates will be fewer and far in between, until I get that APALSA page going. Check back in a week and see what happens!

JULY 16
- In case you haven't noticed, I've added new links to CDNOW. By special agreement, I can set up a direct link to their site. On the main page, there is a search link to search for favorite artists that will immediately transfer you to that artists selections at CDNOW.I know, I know, I went commercial. BUT, I signed up to add the link after doing some searches on my own for imports and they have a fairly decent selection, and they sometimes have sales on their imports. As of July 15, they had a 30% off the regular price of all imports so that the price is pretty close to domestic prices. It's at least cool to check in to see what albums a favorite artist has released or appeared on. Really, check it out!
As far as other new news, after a little thought, and a couple of other people's web pages, I decided to put the entertainment stuff from the
About Me page to a new page, originally named Entertainment. I plan to expand this page and their links a bit more.Otherwise, no new news: No new permissions granted, no new links, though I am working on adding a link to my friend's, Kimberly Lau's, Web site, called Madam Kvetch's Home Page. An explanation on the name is given on her site.
If you have a personal web site and wouldn't setting up a link from mine, email me and let me know. I would be happy to add it. Of course, when, if ever, I do design my own Web Page Banner, I would be very interested in a Web Link exchange.
That's it so far from this front.
Pax!
July 14
- OK, just received word from Graham & James, a well known international law firm with an office here in Sacramento, that they feel uncomfortable having anyone else use their logo. Well, owner's rights. So, if I get the permission from the other law firms, G&J's will be the only one in text.By the by, the new Law page is up, though incomplete. I can't really say what else I will put on it, though I will hook up this site to McGeorge's web site [gee, I wonder if I can get permission to use their crest?] as well as to other law schools in California.
That's about it for now. Thanks for you support in that corrupted email situation. I'll keep you all appraised if I ever find the guy.

July 13
- Oh boy. Some idiot at prodigy sent a corrupted file to my email address and pretty much killed all 20 messages that were on there. So, if you wrote me recently and I haven't responded, it's because I didn't receive it. Sorry about that, but some people just don't know what they are doing. As far as the web page goes, I set up the Guest book on the 11th and it seems to be working out pretty well. I didn't realize that there are a lot of 'free' web tools, as long as you are willing to deal with their reliability and/or ad exchange. So far, so good.
I did get permission from Martindale-Hubbell to use their logo for a graphical link to their site. I guess to some, it looks like I'm too lazy to create my own graphic html links, but part of it was an internet experiment to see the difficulties and/or advantages of requesting copyright permission over email. So far, only Star Wars [Lucasfilm] has remained unresponsive and only Playboy has outright refused to allow me to use their logo.
I think that most sites appreciate any free traffic they may get, but also a non-commercial site is just that, not for the purpose of making money. If I ever do set up a commercial site [for what, I have no idea], the negotiations would probably be far more extensive than just a request for written permission.
By the by, I should have the Law page up sometime later this week, providing I get a couple more responses from firms and others.
So, until then,
Pax
July 9
- I have now received written permission for use of the !Tang logo [thanks Evan] and the RX List logo from Dr. Neil Sandow. RX List is a great pharmaceutical reference site where I was able to identify two old prescription drugs that I found in my medicine cabinet. While this site may not have all drugs on the database, it has those drugs most often prescribed by physicians, so check it out at the Links page. Also of note, I have been in the process of trying to obtain permission to use the logos of some very large law firms as well as a very reputable legal search firm that I used to work for: Major, Hagen and Africa. These will most likely be integrated into the Links page until I get the Law Reference page up and running. I should have the basic page set up by next week.
Also next week, due to some recent requests from friends, I will be working on setting up a Guest book where visitors can write a note, a greeting, or what have you [please censor yourselves, guys] that will be viewable to all visitors. It's a good idea, but one that, I believe, requires more knowledge of HTML language than I know, so some research will be in order.
Oh yeah, my cold is getting better. It seems to have recessed into more allergy-type symptoms, so the Antihistamines will be probably all I need for now. Thanks for all of the well wishes sent in!
So, until next update, PAX! [by the by, Pax is Latin for Peace!].
July 8
- Well, thanks to Mr. Flanders at Web Pages That Suck, I was able to get permission to use their logo for the Links page. I also added a few more graphical links, for your enjoyment, and convenience.I think I'm finally on my way to permanent recovery, thank you very much, with the help of a stronger antihistamine which seems to stifle my coughing a lot more than usual. Of course, the hours and hours of extra sleep I got yesterday helped enormously, too.
As of right now, I can't think of anything else I can do to these pages until I get those photos scanned in, so the updates will be happening less frequently, but probably at least three times a week for a while. But, as always, let me know if there is something that needs to be addressed.
Thanks again for dropping by, and, as always, Pax Vobiscum!
July 7
- I'm sick again [this sucks], so back to updating the pages. I have added the still developing Links page that will contain all graphic links that I can get my hands on, with permission, of course. Also, I have changed my Web Counter, for no particular reason, other than I wanted to tamper with the HTML code and see what kind of damage I could do. Still no idea when the photo page will be up, but, space providing, that page may link to three branches, Family, Friends, and McGeorge Asian Pacific American Law Students Association [APALSA] of which I was president last year. Thanks to all those who have been adventurous enough to take a look here! Maybe I'll try advertising my space, just to see what happens, eh?
Well, now that I got this far, might as well see where else I can go with it! As Caesar said before crossing the Rubicon, Iacta Alea Est, The Die Has Been Cast.
As always, Pax!
July 6
- Well, here it is, the new Update page. [please, hold all applause, thank you]. So, If you've noticed, I've updated the main page, though haven't touched-up the About Me page just yet. I'll get to that sometime later this week. This has been a lot of fun for me to set this sucker up, though I'm still learning a lot about web sites and how difficult it is to design a not too heinous page, or pages as the case may be.For those that are curious, this whole set of pages was set up via Microsoft Word '97. Only the new buttons were designed via the standard Paint program that comes with Windows 95, so nothing special, just as long as it works. The graphic above was designed also via Word 97, though I'm not too sure how the graphic link is set up. Such as it is.
Please, though, email me if you have any comments, suggestions, or even compliments, if they are in order. I'm always looking for new and better ways to get this page up to some sort of quality standard.
Links page will be up Wednesday! Thanks for dropping by,
Pax!
July 4
- It's just past Midnight and it's the Fourth Of July! Woohoo! I still got my cold, but a little Nyquil and I'm doing pretty good.About this site: still no word about several copyright permission requests, so I may have to stick to Textlinks for the moment. I've added a web counter, hope it works, just to see if anyone else other than me is checking in.
I also recently visited Web Pages That Suck homepage and I've seen some real dingers, though I've got some problems too. So, I've got my work cut out for me. Ah well. I seem to remember one faux pas is too much text. Well, after this weekend, I'll post this Bulletin/Web Page Update section on a separate page, inspired by "The World's Cutest Dictator", Asia Carrera. I'll have the link to her site up soon!
So, until I get the WPTS Award for the day, enjoy the Fourth, and Pax Vobiscum!
July 1
- I have been attempting to obtain permission to use copyrighted graphics and photos on this site for a little variation as well as to make more attractive links to those sites. Sadly, no bites yet and Playboy will not let ANYONE use their graphics or photos. [No, I was NOT going to post photos of nekkid women here, I mean C'mon! My Parents will see this!] I await responses from Randy Jay Braun for a couple of Hawaiian Hula Dancer photos, Kahiko Style [aka da Old Kine!], and Lucasfilm for permission to use a few Star Wars pics and the logo for the link. Hey, you gotta dream!
