Sharks on the Rebound

Well it was an up and down week for the Sharks, who saw there 5 game win streak snappend at the hands of the Canucks at GM Place. The Sharks wents on to struggle after that dropping 3 of 4 before they have put a mini 2 game win streak on the boards. The week included a 8-4 lose to the Canucks, spliting a home and home with the Islanders. The Sharks taking the first game 2-0 with the Isles winning game two 4-3. Then followed by a lose to the Coyotes 6-4. Then they rebounded with two wins, beating the Blackhawks 4-1 and
Ed Belfour makes a diving safe on Blackhawks forward Craig Conroy. The Sharks went on to win 4-1.
edging the Islanders again 5-4 in an overtime thriller. Offence honors of the week go to forwards Martin St. Louis leading the way with 3 goals and 6 assists and is riding a 5 game point scoring streak, while linemate Brad Richards had 3 goals of his own along with 5 helpers. Defencive awards go to Eric Brewer who had 2 goals, 5 assists and was a +3 and currently is on a 7 game point streak. And honorable mention goes to his d-pairing Jay Bouwmeester who tallied 5 assits and was a +2 on the week. Injury news this week. Oleg Tverdovsky is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury and is expected to miss some games. With that injury, Keith Ballard has called-up from the Cleveland Barons and is expected to play in the up-coming home and home series with the Phoenix Coyotes. Belfour had an up and down week going 3-2 with 1 shut out and turning away 116 of the 129 shots he faced. The Sharks now face the Phoenix Coyotes on a home and home series. The Coyotes lead the season series 1-0 on the strength of there 6-4 win a couple of days ago. Expect the goaltending duties to be shared while the lines remaing somewhat the same.
