Season Set to Start
Saturday, March 4, 2006
After what seemed to be an endless fantasy draft, an International Competition, and the occasional blow up around the league.  The PHL is gearing up to the start of the season.  Although it wont go into the books as 'official' all the teams are starting to feel the hype of getting things going and no team seems to be holding back. New Jersey and Columbus seem to be the front runners going into the season, but in a Sim league anything can happen.
In whats developed into an arms race in recent weeks, we see some scary lineups heading in, to start the season. With Jersey having star power like Lecavlier, Gagne, Doan, Jovanovski, Frolov, Nagy, Kubina, upcoming star goalie in Lundqvist, and also with the recent addition of Spezza, only one word comes to mind when having to face these guys on the ice....CRAP! But we just cant stop there now can we. Lets move a little more west to the state of Ohio where the Columbus Blue Jackets play. You have to put this team in the same breath as Jersey for these few reasons: Thorton, Nash, Forsberg, Chara, Redden, Hossa, and Turco watching the blue ice. But you cant count out teams like Minnesota, St. Louis, Florida, San Jose, and thats just to name a few.  Minny has gone with the veteran look with players that can still play can very easly put themselves in the the hunt for Lord Stanley. To the sun shine State now.  Florida has put together one of the best looking defensive units hockey has ever seen. Count on them having a say on things as well. St. Louis has fallen a bit in the last couple of weeks but they have 2 very potent forward lines and could easly challenge for the division title in the centreal with Columbus. What say will the Sample Season Cup winner, the San Jose Sharks will in this season as well? Who have drafted there whole team with the exception of 2 players. Or Colorado, whose sick sense of humor of drafting, retired players, dead guys and anything else you could imagine, how will they do? With that any number of teams could find themselves in the playoffs except for Calgary, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia. But stranger things have happened! These 3 teams have drafted and traded for a mass amount of young, deadly talent, that in a few short seasons could see themselves rise to the top of there respected conferences. With opening night only a few days away everyone is itching to get ready to go. The game of the night should be between San Jose visiting New Jersey in the Swamp, but overal we're in for a great opening night with 14 games! So while we wait for a few more short days, sit back, relax, have another laugh at Greg's signatures, curse Ron or Brandon a few more times if you'd like. Watch Tom and Brad argue about something that has no barring on anything, again. Take in all the NHL trade rumors and talks of the upcoming weekend, or whatever else you decide to do, just make sure you keep your stick on the ice! Best of Luck everyone. Oh yeah, and please mind the spelling mistakes, Thank You.
