Every year or two, my family and I travel for vacation to a resort in the town of San Remo, Italy.

San Remo is a small town on the Italian Riviera. It can be spelled as San Remo or Sanremo.

By car, San Remo is about 40 minutes from Monte-Carlo, Monaco, 45 minutes from Nice, France, two hours from Genoa, Italy and 3 1/2 to 4 hours from Milan, Italy, depending on traffic on the highway. It is really cool to sit in the car when traveling on the highway because of the high speeds that people drive. People drive up to 100 MPH in certain areas.

A local traveling market visits the town on Tuesday & Saturdays. Locals buy household items, clothing, shoes, and cheap jewelry in the market. They can also buy fish from the fish market building, located next to where the market is set up. The fish building is open to sell fish, even when the market is traveling to other towns. Genuine copies of clothing, pocketbooks & scarfs by some famous American & European designers are sold for bargains. Some of these copies look great & others don't look as good. A couple of years ago, many more designers had copies in the market, but either the source dried up or the company put a stop to the coping of their products.

Sanremo is also famous for it's music festivals. Not too far from the hotel, where we stay is the concert hall. We stay at the Royal Hotel, in Sanremo.

Below is a postcard of the town.
