The South African team for the 2001 World Scrabble
Championships
in Las Vegas, USA on 13-17 December 2001 was chosen immediately
after the conclusion of the final game.
While Lanre Oyenkunle still stops the ratings list, (1980)
he is a Nigerian
citizen and thus ineligible at this stage. The team therefore consists of Trevor
Hovelmeier (1898) and Steven Gruzd (1880) of Johannesburg. Dylan Early (1861)
is the first reserve.
