Example for Power Transformer
rating calculation :
In order to make you understand how to calculate
the transformer rating here I provide you an example.
The picture above shows us and power supply circuit
for a an audio circuit ( SE, PP, Pre Amp, Etc)
Primary terminal connected to 240VAC/60Hz and
at the secundair terminal it produces 5 different type of voltage 550, 5,
6.3, 7, dan 7 VAC.
The Power calculations are as follows :
1) 2 x 550V x 250mA =
275 VA (multiply by 2 because
of Centre tap )
2) 5V x 3A
= 15 VA
3) 6.3V x 5A
= 31.5 VA
4) 7V x 4A
= 28 VA
5) 7V x 4A
= 28 VA
-----------------------------------------------
Total power output
= 377.5 VA
On the pricing table 377.5VA
stands on the range of power rating 375-400VA.
It means the price is USD 80,-
