In her past life, she was Princess of the planet Mercury living in the Marina Castle. In present day Tokyo, she is Ami Mizuno/Amy Anderson. The meaning of her name is "Beauty of Water." Her birthday is September 12, making her a Virgo. Her blood type is A and her favorite gemstone is the sapphire. Her hobbies are reading, studying, playing chess, and swimming. At the beginning of the series, she attends Juuban District Junior High School and later attends Juuban District High School. She is the most intelligent student there with an IQ of 300. Ami wants to be a doctor someday. She had the opportunity to go to Germany to study to become a doctor but she didn't go because she wanted to stay with the other Sailors and she felt like she wasn't quite ready yet. She lives with her mother in a beautiful mansion. Her father, an artist, left when she was very young and never came back. He sends her paintings instead of letters and he sends her a birthday card every year. Her mother is a doctor and I must mention that Ami and her mother look very similar. Ami is very close to her mom and she misses her father. Ami's mother often works late hours because she is a doctor and Ami tries to take care of things around the house for her so that she can rest when she gets home. Ami is calm, very shy, kind hearted, and soft spoken. Her smiles are not given to just anybody. She often appears sad although that is not necessarily how she feels. She is more open with animals than she is with people. She especially loves cats. Luna, one of the guardian cats, liked Ami right away and detected an aura around her. Luna was confused by this at first because an aura like Ami's she often associated with an enemy. She later realized that Ami had such a prominent aura because she was a Sailor. Sailor Mercury was the first Sailor Luna discovered after Sailor Moon. Sailor Mercury is a very important member of the Senshi because she is literally a genius. She is very good at analyzing situations and planning strategies. She has special items that the others don't have. She has the VR Visor which looks like translucent blue goggles that she can wear to locate traps. She also has a microcomputer with the symbol of Mercury on it that she uses to calculate things such as locations and discover enemies' weaknesses. Sailor Mercury is the Water/Ice Senshi. Unlike Sailor Neptune, she has control of water in all its forms; liquid, vapor (fog), and solid (snow and ice). Sailor Mercury's defenses/attacks are Shabon Spray/Bubbles Blast, Shabon Spray Freezing/Ice Bubbles Blast, Double Shabon Spray Freezing/Ice Storm Blast, Shine Aqua Illusion, Aqua Mirage/Magic, and Aqua Rhapsody. Mercury Shabon Spray/Bubbles Blast creates fog that greatly reduces visibility and makes enemies more vulnerable to attack. Shabon Spray Freezing/Ice Bubbles Blast is a more powerful version of Shabon Spray that freezes Sailor Mercury's opponents with bubbles of ice. Double Shabon Spray Freezing/Ice Storm Blast is a more powerful form of Shabon Spray Freezing that freezes her opponents with ice crystals. For Shine Aqua Illusion, water droplets swirl around Sailor Mercury and then she throws a cascade of water at her opponent. She also uses this attack to freeze her opponents inside blocks of ice and to create a wall of ice around them. For Aqua Mirage/Magic, she throws a ball of water at her opponent which freezes them. Super Sailor Mercury plays her ice harp and shoots ice at her opponents for Aqua Rhapsody. In the manga, Sailor Mercury has another attack. It is called Shine Snow Illusion. This is very much like Shine Aqua Illusion only instead of water, she uses snowflakes to attack her opponents. Very pretty! ^_^ She also has another defense in the manga called Hyperspace Area Formation.
