Please be calm this page has photos,a bit of time to load My  FEATURE on PLACES  that are FARAWAY & off the BEATEN TRACK IN AUSTRALIA
WELCOME
Australia.  I'm going to start this page with a place I have been to. I fell in love with Australia and I have travelled lots over the years. I decided that one day in my future I would live in OZ ! I will take you over the next few months to really far off places in Oz.  It is great for backpackers! To start I am going to take you to CAPE TRIBULATION in the far north of Queensland. I stayed at "PK'S" jungle village, a party backpackers delight! It was really well-appointed hostel. The village has log cabins, pool, restaurant ,good cheep food and lots of jungle! I stayed in a 8 bed cabin for about 14$. Cape Trib. I must tell you is a forest covered cape. But not just any forest,it is a tropical rainforest! Hot Muggy, mind swelling stuff! well worth it! Make sure you take lots of mosquito repellent! The scenery is diverse & spectacular all at once. It has coastal mangroves, eucalypt forests to some of the oldest rainforests in the world, untouched! To get to cape trib. I had to cross over the Daintree River. My car coast 5$ on the cable ferry. The ferry is a large barge that is pulled by cables of wire. It is bazarre & exciting all at the same time. During the April to September mths. you can see crocs. sunning themselfs on the banks of the river.I saw 4 crocs. myself! Huge beautiful scarry  creatures! The roads are dirt with some paved and lots of huge potholes! We crossed over 4 creeks that were dry but in the wet season I would recommend 4wd cars only! I travelled with 2 girls one a companion the other a great english girl I dragged along with me to keep my sanity and we have remained friends ever since! We had some funny & scarry times ! We ran into some crocs when we went a walkabout! You have never seen 3 girls run so fast in 3 different directions, screaming our lungs out,  but remember to run in a zigzag, the crocs are great runners when you run in a straight line but not so good when you zigzag! We rode horses, great fun & we saw the cool bird "Southern Cassowary"it is a bird that looks like a Emu but it had a blue neck & a large hard bone on its head.It is a treat to see one the locale people say! This part of Australia I highly suggest you go see! I could only stay there for a few days the intence wet heat made me start to lose myself! The wet muggy heat is very hard on the mind! You become depressed very  fast. I can understand why Captain Cook named it Cape Tribulation, either it was because his ship ran onto the Endeavour reef, or in my thinking it took all his strength to keep his men sane in the humid heat! But well worth a visit in my mind ! If you can, keep going up the coast to Cooktown . You can catch a bus at the P.K"S  village or make sure you have a 4wd car!!!  below are some photos of Cape Trib.
