| Morning Procedures 1. Greet your teacher, friends, and table members. 2. Put your backpack away and turn in homework. 3. Use the restroom and get a drink if you need to. 4. Begin Target Math and Mountain Language. 5. Read quietly when finished. Heading Papers 1. Put your name, number, and date in the top right hand corner. 2. Add a title to your project if one is not already there. Turning in Work 1. Make sure your heading is on your paper. 2. Check to make sure your work is complete and you did your best. 3. Put your work in the tray on the back counter. |
| Drinks 1. Fill your water bottle in the morning, before/after Specials, before/after recess, before/after lunch if you need to. 2. You may get a drink if a teacher is not teaching, or if you are working quietly at your desk. You do not need to ask the teacher first. 3. Follow hallway procedures when out in the hall. Going to the Restroom 1. We will take regular breaks as a class. 2. You may take one extra break in the morning, and one after lunch. These are in addition to the break we take as a class. 3. If a teacher is not teaching, give the signal to the teacher. The signal is the sign-language letter for “t”. 4. Follow hallway procedures when walking to the restroom. Going to the Clinic 1. Talk to a teacher about how you feel. 2. If appropriate, the teacher will write you a pass to the clinic. 3. Use hallway procedures and walk directly to the clinic. Do not stop anywhere along the way. Going to the Office 1. Make sure your teacher knows you are leaving the room. 2. Use hallway procedures and walk directly to the office. Do not stop anywhere along the way. When Tardy to Class 1. Give your tardy slip to the teacher. 2. Put your things away quietly. 3. Do not disrupt the class as they are working. 4. Begin your work. Procedure for Going to your Cubbie 1. Make sure a teacher is not teaching. 2. Leave the room quietly to get what you need. 3. Return to the classroom quickly. |
| Materials Needed for Class Make sure that everyday you have with you: 1. Pencils with erasers. 2. Crayons, glue, and scissors. 3. Your journals. 4. Your take-home folder. If You Do Not Have Materials 1. Raise your hand. 2. Quietly explain to a teacher what you need. 3. Write a reminder in your take home folder to your parents. 4. Come the next day with what you need. If you are Absent 1. Bring a note from your parents or a doctor, etc 2. Find out from your teacher anything you might need. 3. Get your make-up work from the make-up work folder. 4. Catch up with Mountain Math and Mountain Language. 5. You have 2 days for every 1 day you were absent, to get your work completed. Test Taking 1. Take the test without talking. 2. Use a pencil. 3. Do your own work. 4. Answer every question. 5. Explain or show your thinking. 6. Do your best. When talking is allowed 1. In the morning when greeting friends 2. During class meetings when appropriate 3. During group projects 4. When asking or answering a question. 5. Packing up at the end of the day 6. Lunch time 7. Recess |
| End of the Day 1. When your table is called, quietly gather THF, homework, parent notes, and walk to get backpacks. 2. Using hallway procedures, gather things from your cubbie. 3. Return to your seat. 4. Talk quietly with people at your table until dismissal. 5. Say goodbye to your teacher before leaving. Library Procedures 1. Always walk around the library. 2. Look quietly for a book. 3. If you are unsure if the book is right for you, do the five finger test. 4. Once you have checked out, sit quietly in line and read your books while waiting for the class to finish. When Visitors are in the Classroom 1. When someone comes to speak to a teacher or student, or when an announcement is made, continue working, or sit and wait, without talking. Unfinished Work 1. Your teacher will tell you what to do with your unfinished work each time a project is assigned. 2. If it is due that day and you are not done, your unfinished work will go home for homework, due the next day. 3. If your teacher allows you more time to work on it, place it in your pocket in the unfinished work center. 4. Keep track of what’s in your pocket. When you have free time, the first thing you should do is check your UFW pocket. |
