Chapter Five

"I didn't think she'd actually go for it! And besides, since when did I let you in on the deal?" Frank asked Gaal.

"Face it Frank. Without my connections in Lazlo you won't be able to get five feet past the gate! Or did you forget about the Golem incident?"

Frank stared across the table at his "friend" with a cold look in his eyes. "Touche' Gaal. You're right I do need you. So we sell this baby, whatever it is, once we get to Lazlo right? I'll split the creds with you 80/20."

"Neh I think it will be 60/40 unless ye can find a sorceror here in El Paso that can accurately assess the power and value of such an item as the gem?"

"Yet another good point Gaal, my you are the crafty one. Okay but no more. Don't forget I was the one who got it in the first place," Frank replied.

"Excellent," said Gaal as he put his feet up on the table and leaned back in his chair only to look up into the face of a rather large sleek black borg with a Naruni Insignia on it's front chest plate.

As Corinna fixed her hair in the mirror after using the restroom she caught the slightest bit of movement out of the corner of her eye. She turned faster than a cheetah on speed only to see....nothing. "Careful girl, you're starting to see things," she quietly said to herself as she turned back to the mirror and noticed the oh so slight shimmering in the air five feet to her left. Acting as if to fix her shoe she secretly whipped her vibro knife from a hidden boot strap and slung it across the room and imbed, seemingly in mid-air. The slow trickle of ichor like blood revealed her supposed stalker. The shimmering became increasingly more distorted and took on a humanoid shape.

"Hello Zacks, figured you were here," said Corrina with a smile on her lips as she prepared for the inevitable conflict.
