Chapter Six
by LordCoake

Corinna's heart beat faster and harder, so hard she could hear her own blood pumping through her veins. A wave of heat washed over her, as her body temperature rose and her metabolic rate increased. In the artificially-induced rush of adrenaline, Corinna perceived everything in slow motion. Her reaction time became super-human, able to move several times faster than a normal human. The chemicals and drugs pumping through her body, drugs that make steroids look like Flinstone Vitamins, strengthen muscle tissue, making her stronger and tougher than several men combined.

The Naruni Repo-Bot stood there for several moments, as Gaal sat awe-struck, and Frank evaluated how much deep-shit they were in. Slowly, the borg turned toward Gaal, saying, "You are free to leave. We have no quarrel with you."

Gaal began to get up and leave when Frank said, "This man is my friend and he wants to stay, isn't that right Gaal?" Frank turned to Gaal expectantly.

"Aaah, (gulp), yeah... that's uh.... that's right," Gaal stuttered. "I'm just going to sit back down right here, Frank." Gaal slid back into his chair, giving him a cold look, thinking, 'you'd better not get me involved in this one Frank.'
The borg turned back toward Frank, who looked at his adversary. The Repo Bot carried a rather large and wicked looking vibro sword with two wires plugged into it's chest, connected directly to the behemoths nuclear power source. It's stood just over nine feet tall, and it's red sensor-eye stared at Frank like a rifle scope. 'Yeah, I can take him,' thought Frank jokingly.
Speaking to Frank in perfect trade four English, it's deep, metallic voice said, "You are in direct violation of Cosmic Trade and Barter Regulations, and are charged with theft against Naruni Enterprises, and of interference with the retrieval of payments for goods and or services provided for by Naruni Enterprises and or its subsidiary organizations." The borg paused for a moment to let that sink in. Then in a much less formal tone, it said, "Fortunately for you I am permitted to accept return of the stolen goods now and disregard all other orders to capture or kill you."

(In the bathroom...)

The eight and a half foot tall Brodkil gave a slight grunt as he pulled out the vibro blade, which was impaled in his right forearm. An acrid smell rose as the knifes energy field vaporized the demon's flesh. The demon reached back behind him and locked the bathroom door. In guttural English, Zacks said, "Corinna, it's a pleasure to finally see you again. I've been looking for you." He gave a vicious smile, showing sharp jagged teeth, and threw the knife to the floor behind him.

"I'm sure you have. Who sent the speed-freak Zacks? Was it Jacko?" Corinna knew Zacks was a bit of a talker. It might be a good idea to keep him going, she thought, while she figured out what to do. She had few weapons on her, and Zacks might take her in a hand to hand fight. Maybe Gaal and Frank would notice her missing, if they weren't too busy shootin' the shit. Good grief, she thought, now I'm the damsel in distress.

"Indeed it was," said Zacks. "He was offered fifty G's to find you. Apparently he did, but did you have to kill him?"

Keep him talking till I find an opening, thought Corinna. Fifty G's....I'm worth at least 75, she thought, feeling insulted.. "I'm not going back alive, Zacks." Corinna stood her ground and felt her heart beating faster. Her hands shook slightly with the nervousness of each passing moment. Her body would be able to react to any sudden movements.

"Well then," said Zacks, "I shall enjoy watching you die." There was a sound of flesh tearing as retractable bones extended twelve inches past Zacks elbows, a product of a Gene-Splicers mad bioengineering. He took two steps toward Corinna.....
