Summary: So ya got Sunfire, Radius, Flex and Murmur all hanging out at this diner after "borrowing" one of the Depo H all-terrain vehicles, along with Mesmero of all people. Apparently he's been sitting in this diner for weeks contemplating what to do while mind controlling everyone in it. Seeing these new Alpha Flight members waltz into his "hideout" gives him inspiration:

"So what's your problem? Are you some kinda super-villian?"

"I am the ONLY kind. I have been sitting in this restaurant for weeks--thinking and...well, eating, and it's suddenly come clear to me! What I must do!"

What he does is decide to mind control our heroes as part of his new master plan...whatever that is. Soon the rest of the "Old" Alpha Flight team along with Manbot come investigating and smell that something is afoot when they see their teammates doing dishes and waxing tables at the diner. A fight ensues until Vindicator uses Murmur's own touch against her with the command, "remember." This causes Murmur to forget her Mesmero programming and pretty soon she's going around freeing the rest of the mind controlled comrades. At the same time Mesmero is controlling those not already under his spell. in the end you've got the situation reversed with the old team now under his control and the new team free. Which sets us up next issue for one heckuva rumble...

Some other things interspersed through this issue is the transport of a girl named Lilli, possessing phasing abilities as show last issue, from Hull House to Department H, where she gets their loving initiation procedures. Some crazy scientist woman in charge of something called the Prometheus Division is ranting about a mysterious new project. And is that the remnants of the Beta Flight team in suspended animation located in the dark, deep levels of Department H? Stay tuned true believers, things are just starting to get juicy.

Score: 7. Still great Alpha Flight through and through. The jarring differences between the two artists was rather alarming at first, but it was interesting seeing AF done in a different style. Mesmero is one humorous villian, and it's always funny seein' Sasquatch beating up members of his own team. Excellent stuff.
