Deadpool is by far one of the best books Marvel puts out nowadays. It is an extremely well written comic that features everbody's favorite merc with a mouth. Deadpool himself is an antihero who borders between good and evil. Wizard seems to disagree with me, saying that having a "villain" as the main character in a book turns off readers. However, I find Deadpool to be a much more interesting character because he is not a morally perfect hero. He is greedy and violent but there is a potential in him to do good. It is his inner struggles between these two fields that provide such a good read. His humor is his outward way of hiding this.
Anyways, this issue is both a humorous and a grimly-serious take on a day at the aquarium with Deadpool and Blind Alfred, the prisoner/mother figure he lives with. It's a game of cat and mouse as Deadpool gives her a chance at freedom. Things are further complicated when the Great Lakes Avengers show up. This is the dopiest superhero club I've ever seen. They find Deadpool and hilarity ensues. To sum things up, Deadpool's transporter crosses lines with Doorman's. As a result, Deadpool and Blind Alfred are hurled back in time. Joe Kelly is a great writer with perfect comic timing and a knack for craziness. I'm interested in what he's going to do now on X-men. Great art by Ms. Denton that shows this comic can survive without Ed McGuiness.
