Welcome to your first (And only, if all things go well) Newsie-Latin lesson! Newsie-Latin is modified Pig Latin, so I will give you a minute to brush up on your Pig Latin. We all speak Pig Latin here, right? Oh well, in case you don't, I'll run you through:

All you do is take the first sound of the word and stick it at the end of the word with ay after it.
Examples: Jack= Ackjay, Spot= Otspay, Mush= Ushmay, Kid Blink= Idkay Inkblay.

Okay, now that we're all Pig Latin experts and we're all wondering what the heck this has to do with Newsies, here is Newsie Latin:
Newsie Latin is a way to completely do away with complete sentences, and complete thoughts! It the perfect way to become dumber, and at the same time have fun and be even more obsessed with Newsies! Intrigued? Let's go!

Okay, each of the following terms from Newsies has a hidden meaning attached. To give you an idea, here are a few examples, but you can come up with your own to fit your own purposes, just as long as other people would be able to figure out what you mean:
Newsies= The awesomest thing ever. Very cool. Hip. Far out. (You get the general idea)
Weasel= Hate. Bad. Not good.
Pape= Responsibility. Something you have to do.
Jack= Leader. In charge.

Okay, now all you do is take any word and figure out how you feel about it.

For example, garbage. Let's say you hate garbage.
Using our Pig Latin skills, we make it arbagegay. But wait! There's more! To say that you hate garbage, simply add weasel in the middle..
I hate garbage= Arbage-weasel-gay

Another example? Okay then. Let's say you have to do the dishes. In Pig Latin, dishes are ishesday. In Newsie Latin, saying I have to do the dishes would be
Ishes-pape-day

Now you try one. Let's say you think cheese is the best thing in the world. Please, express that sentiment using Newsie Latin.
*thinking time*
Ready? Okay. The correct answer is
Eese-newsies-chay

Okay then, for thoughts more advanced than my little chart up there, here's a real pickle. Let's say it is your dream to become a singer. Try that in Newsie Latin.
*more thinking time*
Okay. There are many possibilities, but here are a few. It is Jack's dream to go to Santa Fe, so probably the most obvious possibility might be to say
Inger-Santa Fe-say. Or, if you want to be tricky, you could think that the Newsies were dreaming of more rights and that's why they went on strike, so you could maybe say Inger-strike-say, but it might take some thought to figure out what you mean. You have to be careful though, because if you say Inger-Les-say because of the time Les was sleeping and dreaming about the song Medda was singing, people might think you're saying that you are a small singer or something. So good luck with emotions and feelings not represented in my little chart.

Now! For you Smarty-Pantses out there, here is advanced Newsies Latin.
Remember the second example, where I have to do the dishes was
Ishes-pape-day? Okay, to make that a more complex thought, you could say that you hate it that you have to do the dishes. ?Treat Ishes-pape-day like one word, and convert it to Newsie Latin using a different word, in this case "weasel" to show that you hate it. So...
I hate it that I have to do the dishes= Ishes-pape-day-weasel-ay.

As you can see, advanced Newsies Latin can get very tricky, so you should keep your thoughts as simple as possible. But just in case, here's an example you can try on your own. Let's say you have to write a report on a movie. Say that in advanced Newsies Latin.
*even more thinking time*
Okay,.to say "write a report," you might think about Denton and say
Ovie-denton-may. And then to say that you have to do it, you could say Ovie-denton-may-pape-ay.

Good luck with Newsie Latin! I'd put up some more examples or something but it's very tricky and it makes my brain hurt!
