Annual Secretaries Report February 4, 2008

This is the ninth annual report that I have written and as I have said on all those occasions, anyone who is interested can have it free of charge. However, as I cannot see anyone racing to meet me at the table, I shall have to continue with the help of our committee. The last two years Barrie has been a great help in sourcing many speakers and I would like to thank him very much for his efforts. Much appreciated. Anyone interested in joining our committee please say so now as this is the time to join.
The shift to this new venue has been without any hick-ups and in fact, we have had more attendances than in the previous year. The total attendances for 2007 were 755 while the total for 2006 was 715 thereby exceeding it by 40 visitors. I thank the membership for their cooperation in coming here despite the extra travelling. The highest attendance was on May 28 when 37 persons turned up while the day-tour on June 1 attracted an incredible 40 persons. Our usual Christmas Lunch attracted 34 diners.
Regarding our membership, we lost 19 members for the year that passed away while attracting three new members. Our membership now stands at 254 members. Our oldest member is Arthur Jennings who will be 100 on November 3 next. Mr Fitch who will be 98 this year is our second oldest. We currently have 113 members who are over 80 years and 21 of those are over 90. That is almost half of our membership. Makes you think.
Lastly, I hope all of you will continue to support our Club in the coming year. This will be our 76th year of operation and it would seem a pity if we were to fold up now after such a lengthy time.

      Thank you all.
