SARVOPARI SHREE SWAMINARAYAN BHAGWAN
Lord Swaminarayan, the cause of all incarnations, manifested on this earth 220 years ago. He established the Swaminarayan Sampraday which still exists today and always will. He appointed 2 of His nephews as the Spiritual heads/leaders of the Swaminarayan faith, whom He adopted as sons and whom we refer to as the 'Acharya'. The lineage of the Acharyas still continues and is also refered to as 'Dharmakul'. The Acharyas' wives (whom we refer to as 'Gadhiwala') are the spiritual leaders specifically for the female devotees.
The two Acharyas are : His Holiness 1008 Shri Tejendraprasadji Maharaj (NarNarayan Dev diocese/Ahmedabad Seat) and His Holiness 1008 Shri Ajendraprasadji Maharaj (LaxmiNarayan Dev diocese/Vadtal Seat).
They have the sole responsibility to initiate the Swaminarayan devotees INCLUDING Swaminarayan saints. The Acharyas also have the sole powers entrusted upon them by Lord Swaminarayan to install the idols in a Swaminarayan temple. Lord Swaminarayan Himself states in the 'Shikshapatri', which He wrote Himself, that only those images installed by the Acharyas of Dharmakul shall be worshipped (for more on the lineage of Acharyas please visit our sister site: Swaminarayan Dharmakul) . This is just one of the reasons why we ought to have utmost respect for our Acharyas who are our Gurus and a powerful link to Almighty Lord Shree Swaminarayan.
