Greetings from the President
Who am I ?
My name is Rene Thibodeau and I’m acting president of l’Association de la Famille Thibodeau. I’ve been married to Joyce for the past 16 years. There are three children in my life, Rene Jr., Christian and Renelle.
I was born in Meteghan Centre, Nova Scotia, a small acadian village about 35 minutes north of Yarmouth and 2 hours south of Grand Pré. I have one sister and five brothers with only one younger than myself. My father died in 1985 and my mother is still alive and doing well.
I was raised with both the French and English language at home and school which to us was the norm. We also kept our Acadian culture alive as our more commonly used language and expressions.
I made a career change two years ago and now I’m in the carpentry trade. I worked 13 yrs. with Home Hardware and spent 15 years as a cook/baker for various restaurants and Holiday Inn. Now the kitchen is a place of fun and enjoyment for me.
Besides my family, my passions are music(composer/player), cooking, sports, working with my hands and keeping busy.
I like to meet new people and make new friends which gives me the drive to make this reunion a success. Our heritage is important which makes it more interesting to meet relatives from different places.
Hopefully you will include us in your plans for the summer of 2004 where we will meet and greet you with open arms.
Yours Sincerely,
Rene
