| Manga Information - In other words, the basic plot Well let’s see… This is one of the hardest things to explain. But keep in mind, though the plot sounds REALLY bizarre, it’s a totally awesome manga series. Daisuke Niwa is a junior high school student, who, up until his 14th birthday, had a pretty boring life. He has just asked out Risa, however, she’d rather be his friend. So on this shitty day, he goes home, just wanting to have a quiet rest of the day. However, in the Niwa clan, that’s not possible. He comes down stairs looking very different, (his mom didn’t even know him!) where his mom and his Grandpa inform him that for past generations, on a male Niwa’s 14th birthday, he transforms into the mysterious thief known as Dark. The family pet is even involved! His mom has already done him the favor of leaving a note at a local museum, promising that the great Dark (who hasn’t been seen or heard of for 40 years) will make an appearance attempt to steal a piece of art. So that night, Daisuke still in Dark’s form (and in a real cool outfit his mommy made him) leaves for the museum. Getting in the museum, even with all the press and the police there, was no trouble for Daisuke/Dark. But once in there he’s pinned to the floor by a most delicious creature, who happens to be one of Daisuke’s classmates, and the person this site is dedicated to, Satoshi Hiwitari. There, Satoshi explains why he most captain dark, in the words that made Satoshi my favorite character, “because, to anyone else, I am nothing.” Daisuke starts freaking out, worrying about jail and such, so then the real Dark takes over. Before Satoshi knows what’s happened, two Darks are surrounding him, “there are two Darks?!” Not being able to tell which is which, Dark is able to escape, with his prize. (a golden statue of a women, I forgot the name of it but it’s not important) Risa is meanwhile watching the robbery on TV. She’s pretty much licking the screen when Dark comes on. After escaping the museum Dark rests for a minute on what he thought to be a random person’s yard. But when Risa’s twin sister Riku gets a look at him, her reaction is very different than Risa. It goes something like “OMG! THIEF! PERVERT THIEF!” Dark of course is out of there, but somewhere along the way he turned into Daisuke for an unknown reason. Daisuke’s Grandpa and Mom later explain that since Daisuke likes Risa, Dark must then like Riku. So whenever Risa is around Daisuke, he turns into Dark. (Or tries to) and whenever Riku is around Dark, he turns into Daisuke. And, to make it even more confusing, as the Manga goes on, Risa ends up liking Dark, and Riku ends up liking Daisuke. @_@ |
