Spirit And Truth Ministries International Christian Church

STATEMENT OF FAITH AND BELIEFS

1. We believe in the plenary-verbal inspiration of the accepted canon of Scriptures, and that the Holy Bible is the written Word of God. As it was originally given, we believe that it is the supreme authority in matters of faith and practice for all true Christians everywhere (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21).

2. We believe in the eternal Godhead who had revealed Himself as One God existing in three persons, namely, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, distinguishable but indivisible (Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

3. We believe that man was created in the image of God before whom he walked in holiness and purity, but that by his voluntary disobedience and transgression, the whole human race suffered shame, guilt, alienation and death, utterly void of that nature of holiness required by the law of God, justifiably deserving the condemnation of a just and holy God (Romans 5:12, 17-19).

4. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh and born of a virgin. He lived an earthly life in perfect harmony with the Father and His suffering and death on the cross, provided the only way of reconciliation between God and mankind. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died, was buried, arose bodily from the grave on the third day, and was seen by many witnesses, ascended to the right hand of the Father and is coming to earth again to reign with great power and glory (Luke 1:26-35; John 1:14-18; Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Romans 4:25; John 14:2-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

5. We believe that personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way anyone can establish harmony with God. The evidence of this personal relationship is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. It is only by God’s grace and through faith in the redemptive and restorative power of the Lord Jesus Christ that we escape the painful consequences of our own selfishness and rebellion against God (Romans 8:14-17; Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 9:12; Romans 5:11).

6. We believe in water baptism by immersion in the name of the eternal Godhead, and in the observance of the Lord’s Supper or Communion (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:34-36; 19:1-6; 1 Corinthians 11:28-32).

7. We believe in the operation of the gifts of the Spirit as spiritual enablement provided in order that the Church might carry out the divine mission committed to her by the Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 24:47-49; Acts 1:8; Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11; 12:28-30; Ephesians 4:11; 1 Peter 4:11).

8. We believe that the fruit of the Spirit is the very heart of the practical manifestation of the Christian life. It is by the fruit of the character that is manifested in a believer’s daily life that gives evidence to the reality of Christ’s life within (Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 5:9; Romans 6:22; Matthew 7:16-20).

9. We believe that all true believers are one in Christ, and that they are members of the Universal Body of Christ. However, all faithful believers are to be identified with a local church where they regularly assemble for worship and fellowship (Hebrews 10:25; Ephesians 1:22-23).
