Hello and Welcome to the Hall of SAM!!!
For those of you who are unaware, Samwise Gamgee is a character from the well-known series of books, The Lord of the Rings. And unless you've been living in a hole, or perhaps in the unknown parts of the world for the past few years, you've heard of either these books, or of the first movie of three that came out on December 19, 2001. As a matter of fact, the picture above is actually of Sean Astin as Sam Gamgee. Sean Astin, being the lucky man to play the role of my favourite Hobbit EVER in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Now do not be mistaken!! This is not another corny page dedicated to some movie star that I think is "hot" or whatever...my love is for that of the character, Sam, and only Sam. However, I feel that Sean Astin did a wonderful job bringing the character of Sam Gamgee to life.
And while I'm on the topic of the movie, the movie is wonderful!! And the people who produced it stayed as close to the original story as is possible in three hours. All of the parts were perfectly cast, and the script was very close to the book. And the effects were spectacular! You get completely sucked into Middle-Earth! It's wonderful...and that's all I can really say about it.
I first fell deeply in love with this character when I had gotten to the end of the second book in the series, and Sam had risked his life several times to save Frodo. I don't want to spoil the books for anybody who wishes to read them (and I strongly encourage anyone to read them), so I will only say this: Giant Spiders are NO MATCH for the will of a loyal Hobbit like Sam Gamgee!!
