dont bother buy a ford contour either
Hey, thanks for the advice. I won't buy one of those. I just purchased a red '93 Hyundai Scoupe. I like it a lot. I sort of looks like my '87 Mustang that I use to own. It runs great!

My mother bought her saturn in 1995. It was a great running car and perfect in my eyes. The car still runs great to this day. In 1997 I bought a brand new car, loaded with problems. Everything from electrical, fuel pump, back doors not closing, trunk not shutting properly, odometer, low fuel light not showing. I found myself getting angry and frustrated with my peice of crap car. I took it to saturn of west broad va so many times that the
employees at the car rental place new me by name. I myself have written the owners of saturn and have gotten their same not helpful replies. SATURN CARS AND THEIR COMPANY CAN GO AND ---- THEMSELVES.
P.S. they are nothing more than overpriced gm vehicles underneath it
all.
Right on my man! Now that's what I am saying. People may have good experiences with the Saturn vehicle, your mother for example, but I have had nothing but bad experiences with the vehicle and their Customer Service. I have found out that it's about a 50/50 chance with Saturn vehicles, they are either the best cars that you've ever had or they break down on you constantly(mine is the later, in case you haven't guessed).

I hate my Saturn! It's only 4 years old and I've just been told it needs a new timing chain ($660) and a new engine (major $$$$$$). A year ago the alternator went - ONCE, and it was replaced and then THAT one went a day later, and then the SECOND one lasted a week, and then the THIRD one was put in. I guess three time's a charm.
Charmed, I'm NOT! I will NEVER buy a Saturn again.
Sincerely,
Saturn Hater (This is not me, it is another Saturn Hater just like me)
PS - the car never had any pick-up. Is that why they call it a Saturn? All the other cars drive rings around it!!!
Halaluya Brother! Now that is what I am talking about! I as well had to have a new alternator put in within a week of owning my Saturn Vehicle. Then everything was all downhill from there. I really do feel your pain.

Hello, I have a 1992 SL2 twin cam saturn.
I changed the spark plugs , the o2 sensor , air filter , I put in bottle of fuel injection cleaner. After I cleared the code 45, a week or so later the code returns.
I have had this problem on many occasions.
I hope someone can help.
Well, unfortunately I am not a mechanic, or else I would be able to help you out with this problem. What I would like to do, is say that if anyone knows the answer to this problem, click on the e-mail link at the bottom of this page and send a message to me with "Code 45" in the subject line, and I will make sure that this gets forwarded to the person.

I had a Saturn and I loved it. I loved my car so much that I thought I would go to work selling the cars. I loved my job and my car, I was in heaven. Then I found out that I was pregnant and I was bleeding. The doctor told me I had to stay off my feet. It wasn't even a week later that I was fired. So the concern that the company says that they have for women and women buyers is really just a ploy. A ploy to tap into another selling market. I was still bleeding when I went down to pick up the box that they had dumped all of my belongings in. Then I had to go to the labor board to get my last pay check. I had done a great job as a sales person for Saturn! I just think it is a shame that the company thinks that they can sucker women in and then when it comes down to it they are just like every other car dealership.
Well, It just goes to show that it is not just the car and the customer service department that is f***ed up. The entire Saturn Corporation is a scam to make more money off of the nieve public.

I have a 1998 Saturn SL2. I bought it brand new. I took the car in to have the overhead light inside replaced and since then and have the car back in four times for engine problems. My husband and I found out that there is carbon building on the engine. I have had problems with it shutting off, stalling, shifting, and trouble with starting the car. Every time I have had the car in to the garage, they have replaced a lower crank shaft solenoid. The second to the last time they replaced the top engine mount. The car only has 21,000 miles on it. Saturn tried to tell me this was normal. Bull hockey!! The last time they had the car, they kept it for a week and still could not find the problem. They say they cannot "duplicate the problem." I am now trying to get Saturn to buy the car back. They want me to trade it in on a new one. I will not be that stupid again.
Now this e-mail is special to me. All of those people sending me e-mail saying that it was because my car was so old, well this car is practically new, and still having the same problems. I really feel your pain. I do not blame you either for not wanting to sell your car back for a trade on a new one. I would not give my worst enemy a Saturn automobile.

I purchased a 93 SL2 used wwith 24,000 mi. Has been a great car. Had to replace alternator also and then it went out again, but was covered by after market parts Co. and replaced with no charge. Have 87000+ mi. on it and it still runs fine. Belt tenshioner also went out and had to pay dealer to replace it at reasonable cost, but design is so stupid. With little modification it could have been easy to replace. Like most Engineers they were so smart they don't know how to design something simple. good luck from now on.
Thank you. I am going to be a little bit more weary about who I purchase from, and what kind of vehicle I purchase. You are also so very lucky that those are the only problems that you have had with that car.

I bet Saturn is very annoyed by you setting up a hate page. I've sent them a e-mail to let them know that I will not consider them in my future purchase due to seeing your web site. I'm a current owner of an Import and was considering a Saturn for their customer satisfaction rating and safety. No wonder they only offer a 3 year warranty when others offer 5yrs. or up to 10 yrs. Best of luck to you in getting some kind of resolution from Saturn. They probably lose more customers because of you than if they helped you properly in the first place.
Well, to tell you the truth, I have not recieved any word from Saturn because of this page. I am glad that you have decided against purchasing the Saturn automobile. Although some people do have good experiences with the car, just about as many have bad. That is why I put up this webpage to begin with. To stop others from making the same mistake that I have made in the past, and it seems to have worked. Thank you for your support.

Hello! I understand you are also very dissatisfied with your Saturn. I purchased a '92 Saturn SC2 twin cam from the dealer with 40,000 miles. "Granny traded it in" I was told. I was talked into the extended warrenty for $1000. The altenator went out and was covered. I too had heavy oil consumption and mentioned it to the Service Center who shrugged it off. My engine light came on and I took the car in. They told me nothing was wrong with it so I thought the light was just faulty. I drove with the light on for a little while when it started running bad. I took it in again and was told that it might be a valve, they would have to tear the engine apart but that it should be covered by the warrenty if that is what is wrong. Well, they tore it apart and it was a valve but the warrenty would not cover it even though the warrenty stated "All internal lubercated parts". The mechanics all said that they did not understand why it wasn't covered. Saturn said that First Extended Warrenty was not their warrenty even though the contract stated that it was. No help! I complained to everyone at Saturn, called the 800 number, no special help basically because I didn't take my car there for oil changes. Cost me $1400 to fix somewhere else (considerably cheaper). Then it would start but would die within five minutes of a cold start. Took it back to Saturn and they said the lifters needed to be replaced. Took it for three opinions, all thought the lifters was a strange diagnosis but then they found a Saturn service bulletin describing this fault. Another $400 somewhere else. Running okay now but 70,000 miles and a new engine? Sunroof leaks, door panel on driver side came off the frame. The door problem happened to a friend with the same car. Saturn wants $200 to fix it. Wrote letter to the President of Saturn and have received no reply. Go figure! Thanks for listening. I am glad I am not the only one to see that not only do they not make a quality car but they are not willing to honor contracts or do what is right. Not a very good marketing move!

I bought a 1997 Saturn SL2 with zero miles on it. Before 30,000 miles I had to replace the battery twice, the alternater, the fuel pump and line, the front wheel drive pully, the belt tention, the spark plugs and wires, and the service engine soon light still comes on and goes off whenever it wants. I am about to buy another car and get rid of this one, I will never buy another saturn!!
P.S.
I hate that commerical that shows a guy driving his saturn for 100,000 miles and only having to replace the seat!! Yeah right!!!

Dear Saturn Hater,
I too own a piece of shit Saturn. It is a 1993 SC2. I bought it for about 6000$, which ain't cheap, right? The worst part is since 1997, when I purchased it (w/ 78k miles), I've had to put about 5000 to 6000$ dollars into it.And in case you guys didn't notice this is where Saturn Corp. starts to rape it's customers on parts and labor. After a while, I couldn't even afford it. My car spends most of it's time either in the shop or sitting pretty in the front yard. I've put two clutches in it, and changed the hydraulics twice. The new tranny I put in it was over a grand. I've also replaced the front axle, c.v.'s,ball joints. I had it tuned up twice with new spark plugs, wires and more. From experience, Iknow sensors aren't cheap.I have put much more into it as well and as is it has a broken trunk latch, broken slave cylinder(new clutch),and the brain and sensors are down right fucked up. Please feel more than welcome to write me back and please send this letter along with picture of my big fat hairy ASS, to the Saturn corp.
Sincerly,
Another Saturn Hater
P.S. Saturn hater,
Don't go to Sears. From what I know about the one in my area I would not trust them. I too have had problems with my cylinders not working up to par. The gararge had to rehaul 1 cyl. For a while my car was running on three. Ive also had to get alignment, new rims new tires, new brakes and change the linkage in my newer transmission. The Saturn guys even say that the car is dent resistant. To that I say bullshiznat. One front 1/4 in my Saturn cracked as weel as the trunk part with "SATURN" logo on it.The top metal panel on the roof is rusting around my beautiful moonroof that doesn't work and also leaks.Saturn sucks. They talk about shit like "a different kind of car". Yeah one that You have to push because it doesn't drive anywhere. Do I look like fuckin Fred Flinstone over here, I bought a car so i wouldn't have to walk. Oh well, I will end this note now with out further offensive slander towards the car company we all hate so much(SATURN).

Wow, very interesting. I am sorry you had so many problems with your Saturn. I just wanted to let you know that I am extremely happy with my Saturn. It is a 1995 SL!. At this point there are 138,000 miles on it. I drive back and forth to work every day; an hour commute each way. I have had no real problems with it at all except for having 2 tires replaced. I hope to replace this car with a Saturn when I am ready to buy again. Good luck with your next car purchase; whatever it may be.

started using 1 qt. oil every 3k miles by 80k miles. now have 110k miles on engine and burns 1 qt. oil every 800 to 1000 miles. engine stumbles badly on acceleration and starting from stop. in 42 years of car ownership never had a vehicle that ran this poorly.

We bought a brand new sl 1 in may 1998 and with just under 28,000 miles on it, we have a problem with the transmission. It has been in the shop for over one week now. We are "lucky" at least, that the warranty is still in effect. I now hate saturn vehicles LOL.
