i awoke one day, someone new,
someone i did not know.
i shook with fear, had such doubt,
where was this to go?
You'd put this collar 'round my neck,
and with it set me free.
pleasing You meant everything,
but always still just me.
days and weeks, then months went by,
each moment locked to mind.
some days i'd still look back and think,
of the girl i left behind.
i was content, and so at peace,
yet still, i was alone.
then my days were filled with joy,
You'd claimed me for Your own.
each night i thank the heavens,
i treasure every day.
looking at where i am now,
there is only this to say.
now, i am a child of laughter,
a girl who now knows love.
i'm the woman kneeling at Your feet,
a life, once only dreamed of.
so now You see, a year's gone by,
and still my heart just soars.
