Man's Recliners: A Short History

fig.1.1 The Man's Recliner

Man's Recliners are both an element of truth and invention of popular culture. Their existence begins in truth, but, as a woman, it is hard to imagine that people actually let their furniture get like that. These strange beings are obviously recliners, usually of the Lazy Boy variety, and most stereotypically (like in the story) black leather, such as Chandler and Joey's on
Friends. They are often usually very messy, and could inhabite small creatures, such as mice or cockroaches.

Other such finds in the Man's Recliners include beer cans, dirty laundry, stains (of various elements, including food and bodily fluids), and Man Literature, such as dirty magazines and TV Guide. Majority of the activities to takes place in Man's Recliners revolve around watching television, usually while eating or drinking beer. Much sleeping is also done here. Sex is almost always nonexistant. Man's Recliners have a long history of frightening women.

Famous Man's Recliners in history include the aforementioned pair from Friends, as well as Homer Simpson's chair that included a toilet, and Les Battersby's chair on
Coronation Street. There are many, many others.
