SAVING GRACE EQUINE RESCUE/ BLACK DOG FARM
PERSONAL HORSES WHO LIVE HERE!
Well, since I usually have mostly just the rescue horses on my web site, I thought I would update and put some pictures and stories up of my OWN personal creatures! Currently I have 4 horses here and 1 rescue. There is also one more fellow who I board out across the road (Saving Grace as of yet doesn't have an indoor arena! ha ha!). Please feel free to check out my own horses and ponies! They all have neat backgrounds too... :)
This is MOJO!! He was a newer arrival as he came in fall of 2007. I found him when I was looking for a pony to just hack around and have fun with. Originally he had failed the vet check miserably (we never got past his front feet!) as he had foundered in the past and had flares, a huge abcess hole, severely contracted heels  and VERY long toes. He was also ouchy and unsound. He was supposed to go back, but the lady I got him from didn't want him back so here he stayed until I would find him a new home..(that was the original plan!!). Well, I wanted to do everything I could to try and make him more comfortable with his poor feet so I had Kate Romanenko come out to do the Barefoot trim on him. Well, in doing the "last ditch effort" first, rather than masking his issues with shoes, he is now a sound and happy pony BAREFOOT!! His feet have already resumed a more normal shape, the abcess grew out and his hoof structure is quickly going back to NORMAL!
So, needless to say this little guy has found a permanent home here as his personality is adorable, he is virtually bombproof and well, I love him to death!
This good  looking fellow is ASPEN. He is a TB cross, 16.1hh and he too is relatively new here. I have known him since he was 4 (now 11) and came across him last summer at a club show. I thought I recognised him and sure enough, it was a horse I had looked after a number of years ago west of Toronto. He looked good and I didn't think he would be for sale any time soon... but lo and behold, a few months later after him becoming too much for his young rider, I saw an ad up for him. Well, I scooted out there, tried him out (for about 15 minutes!) and did the deal right then and there. Picked him up a week later and here he is! He has evented, done dressage, some hunter and dabbled in western. So, he is currently in training for an event and he has been to a bunch of dressage clinics this past winter. Aspen is a fun guy, has some spunk and is just a pleasure to ride! I look forward to many show seasons with this fellow! (The girl riding him is his rider for the season, Lisa. :) I am preggo and not riding my bigger beasties at the moment)
This little punk is NIETCZE! He is an 11 month olf Friesian baby! He came last fall as well at 4.5 months old. Nothing too much to say here, I just wanted one my whole life, so I got one. Hee hee! He is a total sweetheart who is now living out with the Big Boys in the big pasture to grow up and be a horse. :) We have done clicker training and he has taken to it like a duck to water. His future is ultimately as a dressage horse.
