When Caparzo is dead in the water after being shot by the sniper, the captain removes his
dog tags before they move on. Caparzo already removed the dog tags from his neck and gave them to the little girl.. 3-4 seconds later, his
dog tags are on the chain hanging in the girl's hand, he is shot and drops away from the girl. Unless it was common to wear 2 separate chains, this is an error.

In the Dog Tag Scene the group set down around a green wooden box to count the Dog Tag's. Directly before they start to count you can see that one of them kicks a smaller wooden box of the bigger green box to sit down on this box. But one scene before there is no smaller box placed on the big green box. Regards from Germany - Markus

Caparzo
was not killed as someone suggested during the bunker scene. He was killed
by the German sniper when they (the squad, Capt. Miller + 7 men) entered
the first town. The guy killed during the bunker, i.e. the bombed out radar
station, was a medic called Wade, though it was right about the field shot;
there should have been 7 men (including Miller) after Caparzo was killed
but 8 were shown. Both scenes might have come from the same pending shot
and some Editing Dummy apparently had forgotten that they would not match
the story. W.K. Chung

In the
village, how probable is it that a French family is left behind? Was it
common for German and allied troops to come across towns-people? Most of
the Panzer crew accounts I read about, talk about totally abandoned villages
on the western front, some untouched. Andersbjorn

In the
"Dog Tag Scene" at the rally point, right after Jackson says "where is
the son of a bitch" the camera pulls back looking at one of the other
soldiers looking through the dog tags, a woman suddenly appears to be walking
casually from way behind the soldier, you don't see her walking up to the
soldier. If she is part of the movie, her black jacket, beige skirt
or pants and a belt for the jacket, and shoulder length brown hair are
definitely out of place. Thomas A. Zanetti

When the
team is looking at the dog tags for Ryan in the camp with airborne walking
by, a bug eyed brown haired soldier stares at them. A couple of seconds
later, when Hanks is yelling for Ryan, the same soldier walks by behind
him and stares at him again. I guess he didn't stare enough the first time.

The first
town Miller's group goes to is "Neuville" -- which I am presuming was Neuville-au-plain,
a town a couple kilometers north of St. Mere Eglise and on the far northern
flank of the American front. Neuville is an awful long way to go from Omaha
(which was the southern part of the American front) on foot, though enemy
lines, etc. Furthermore, Neuville was in the 82nd's sector, and was held
on and off by the 82nd. While there were certainly mixed units all
over, all of the troopers holding Neuville in the movie were 101st guys.
