Peer Tutors make the world go round!

Peer Tutor Trio, #1 show at Acton High!

The Peer Tutor Trio, you may have heard a lot about them, you may have even seen them in action, but never electronically! Yes, that's right! The PTT (Peer Tutor Trio)has their own page on my quaint little site. Those of you who are unaware of the PTT may ask... what is the PTT? Who do they consist of? What do they do? Well, here are your answers my friends!
The PTT is a small group of three (3) Acton High students (or used-to-be students) who took a Peer Tutoring course together and all did music. Two of them were tutoring the first semester grade nine class and the other was tutoring the first semester grade ten class. They all had first period off and hung out together in the music room. One day Lara brought in her recorder, started fooling around and played 'The Bell Ringer'. Kaktis then decided to try and play it with he hands (which were later called the Handophone, and it is played in the key of Q). Pinky then said how he is tremendously skilled at the triangle, so we added some percussion. Hence forth, we were known as the Peer Tutor Trio!
The PTT consist of Kaktis, Pinky and Lara. (I think I need a nickname too.)
We play random songs at band concerts to liven up the crowd and for comedic reasons too.
At the Acton High Christmas concert, we played 'The Bell Ringer' infront of the full band audience! It was a very successful venue since nobody (out of the performers) laughed, keeping somewhat straight faces as the crowd laughed at our musical abilities. Kaktis played her beloved Handophone, Lara played her beloved recorder up her nose, and Pinky played his beloved triangle. Our concert attire consists of the old band sweaters from the 70's. I think they are much better than the ones we have now personally.
Since we were so loved by the crowds at Christmas time, we decided to delight them again with a second tune, this time, more serious. 'The Typewriter' by Leroy Anderson was our next masterpiece. Kaktis spent countless hours taking the original score and shrinking it entirely down to two parts: Alto sax and Baritone... Obviously the typewriter and the bell as well, but they weren't melody. This time we had a special feature as well, Kenzie decided to join our ranks for this performance. Kaktis played the Baritone, Lara played her Alto Sax, Pinky played the Desk Bell, and Kenzie, our feature, played the typewriter! It was successful as well, we had a few glitches this time 'round, but it was alright. Good times were had by all at both of the PTT venues! Hopefully next year we can call upon the mighty forces of Kaktis to come back and join us for future shows. There are also PTT comics in the making (if Kaktis ever completes the first one). Hopefully we will have the first one at somepoint in time!

The PTT recently played at another venue; the AHS Christmas Concert of 2004. We switched it up again doing something completely random, which is what we are known for. This year we did a trombone quartet to Carol of the Bells. I personally would say that it was rather successful since neither Kenzie nor I had ever played a trombone prior to the weekend before the concert. It was sort of rough in some areas, but good for a laugh as we tuned... very... uh... badly... :P Mr. Wilcox said, "It was a classic grade 9 note!" Needless to say, our playing abilities made him proud to be our music teacher. It was a overall awesome concert, anyone who had seen it would have been happy (I hope) with the music. I was pleased with it! :D Pictures from this venue will be up shortly!!

This is the debut of the Peer Tutor Trio
at the Christmas Concert!
Kaktis and I both had our heads shaved, mine was shaved
that night a few hours prior to the actual show.
We wanted Pinky too as well, so we could have called ourselves "The Kaktis Trio" but he wouldn't. Ohh well!

This is a lovely picture of the PTT,
these are our Super Heroic poses!

Lara and her wrathful recorder,
Pinky and his ear-piercing triangle
and Kaktis with her hands of DOOOM!

We will kick anyone's behind
who messes with the music room, we are...

Everyone was so into their work.

Two of the PTT went off and started their own modeling industry for Duct Tape,
sadly, the buisness didn't succeed as planned.
