The Mobster & The Lawyer

Fanfiction

Alone

Intro:

Sonny stood there in the dark of his penthouse looking out his window, at Port Charles, his city. A city that he fought countless scumbags like Sorel for and won because he proved that he was the best. His power and territory grew now that Sorel was dead. Things had been quiet, too quiet. That only meant that soon there would be another threat to his position as head of the underworld in Port Charles.

It was winter now and the weather was cold and brisk as the wo rld he chose to be part of. It was night and the stars were twinkling above while the light snow flakes fell in silence dancing in tango with the wind over upstate NY. As Sonny stood there sipping his drink, the full moon reflecting on him, he took in th e beautiful scenery. Alone.

His wife, Carly, had betrayed him to the feds and countless other betrayels that followed. He never forgave betrayel. He gave her plenty of chances and gave her all he had only to be destroyed. So, he had to dispose of her. At first, he thought of just making her disappear through an accident, but then what would happen to his stepson Micheal? No, he had to figure out another way to deal with her. He had to earn back the respect of his men. They trusted him and the fact that hi s own wife turned him in to their enemy, the Feds, was not making him look good. He didn't need any doubt in his men, not now that he had so much to loose. So, he had her leave the country forever and gave her enough money to take care of Micheal.

He had to let her go from his life for his own sanity. The pain was too much to bare anymore. He tried to be strong when he was betrayed by Brenda, Hannah, and now his own wife Carly. But there was only so much a man could take. He always held things in deep inside as a child when his stepfather Deke abused him and his mother, while his real father, Mike, gambled his life away. Carly's betrayel shattered his heart into a million pieces. He learned that the only way to survive was to escape the pain. But in the end, he always ended up alone. The only thing he had in his life was the empire he created and he was not going to give that up. Not after he worked so hard and sacrificed so much of himself.

Yes, he was selfish, possesive, and controlling. But that was how he survived the dark and bloody world that consumed his mind and soul the past few years. Sonny Corinthos took what he wanted and trusted no one. He was a man to be feared by all, especially his enemies...

Alexis came home from another long hard day of work. Court was her second home. She was a workaholic. Her days were spent with rich clients that demanded the best because she was considered the best. There wasn't a lawyer in NY that didn't fear her in court. She could be a shark when motivated by a case, she took no prisoners.

Alexis was also a Cassidine. The Cassidines were known as the most dangerous family in Port Charles. There was always an article about them in the Port Charles Times about mysterious murders or other illegal dealings that they were tied to in some way or other. But Alexis always disassociated herself from them. She never considered herself really part of the Cassidines nor care to be anymore. She loved her older brother Stefan and little sister Kristina. But the head of t he family Hellena, her stepmother, was evil incarnate. She despised Alexis because Mikkos, Hellena's husband and Alexis's father, had an affair with Alexis's mother. To Hellena, Alexis was a reminder that Mikkos betrayed their marriage and that she wasn't good enough for her own husband. Hellena treated Alexis like she was nothing. If it wasn't for Stefan looking out for her and taking care of her, she would have lost her mind in Greece where she grew up all those years ago. She owed him for her strength and sanity.

Alexis was engaged once to Ned Ashton, the CEO of ELQ, and member of one of the richest and most prominent families in Port Charles, the Quartermaines. They broke up over a year ago after she caught him in bed with Julia Barrett, his ex wife. Ned never accepted her for the independent woman she was and she always felt that she had to live up to his standards. The friends she chose and the cases she took. It had to be what he thought was best and when he didn't get his way, he walked out on her. She had spent her whole life trying to be accepted, she wasn't going to do it for her man too.

The traffic to get back to the penthouse was just awful. The storm had gotten worse. She walked into her dark living room and dropped her briefcase on the floor and tossed her coat on the sofa. She pulled the plug on her phone to block out any disturbances from her clients. She was tired and not in the mood to go back outside. It was late and she needed some relaxation time.

She walked up to her master bedroom. It was decorated with velvet from curtains to silk bed sheets. She went into the bathroom and created a bubble bath for herself and lit candles all around that gave a sweet aroma that calmed her nerves. She slowly took off her expensive suit, laid it neatly on the bed and tied her hair up letting a few strands loose to frame her face. She took out her cell phone from her purse and placed it next to her on the sink just in case there was an emergency, it was her private line.

As she stepped and slid into the bubble bath that smelled of vanilla chocolate she sighed in relief as the bubbles and hot water engulfed her tense body. She lay there and closed her eyes taking in the silence and peace that surrounded her. It was nice after the hectic and noisy day she had at the courthouse.

Alexis Davis, attorney at law. A woman that was respected in Port Charles for her brilliant mind. A woman that had a dream career but still was missing the one thing she desired...a man to share her life and soul with that she could trust completely...

Chapter 1:

Alexis opened her eyes to the sound of her cell phone ringing.

Alexis: "Hello" Alexis said while playing with her bubbles.

Sonny: "Hello beautiful", Sonny said in a sexy voice. He was dressed in his favorite silk black pajamas sitting on ledge of his bedroom window once again overlooking the city. His shirt was unbuttoned revealing his tanned chest.

Alexis: "Who is this?" Alexis said in a confused tone. No one had this number but Kristina and Stefan.

Sonny: "Why, Your new client Ms. Davis." , he said sweetly. Sonny had his men search for the best lawyer in the state and they turned up with Alexis Davis. He reviewed a file on her and liked what he saw. She never lost a case, basically she was the best. And he needed the best. And she wasn't bad on the eyes either from the pictures he saw of her in the newspaper clippings.

Alexis: "Really, and does my new client have a name?" Alexis said in an impatient tone.

Sonny was silent and just smiled to himself.

Alexis: "Look buddy, I don't know who the heck you are..." Alexis finally said getting angry after a moment.

Sonny: "Sonny Corinthos"

Alexis just sat there in silent shock. Why was Don of Port Charles calling her? She had heard of him but never actually met him. She just knew about him from the newspapers. And what she knew was that he was as dangerous as they come. He had been arrested for every unlawful crime in the book, from murder to racketeering. But ofcourse never convicted.

Sonny: "Ms. Davis, are u still there?" He knew the thoughts that were probably racing through her head.

Alexis finally cleared her throat.

Alexis: "How did u get this number, it's private."

Sonny: "I have my ways Ms. Davis. So, let's discuss your new job." Sonny confidently.

Who the hell does this guy think he is?! He doesn't even ask me to be his lawyer! It was clear to her now that he was one of those macho types who thought they could just say what they wanted and get away with it with any woman. Well, he just ticked off the wrong woman!

Alexis: "I don't remember you asking me to be your lawyer." , she tried to say in a calm voice. "And even if you did, I don't defend gangsters, Mr Corinthos."

Sonny: "That's okay, because I'm not a gangster, Ms Davis. I own a restaurant franchise. You really shouldn't believe everything you read or hear Ms. attorney."

Alexis: " Is that why you travel with a team of bodyguards ?, she said sarcastically.

Sonny: "I'm a wealthy man, Ms. Davis. I have to protect myself. There are a lot of crazy people out there." , he said seriously.

Tell me about it , Alexis thought to herself. She was brought up by them. The Cassidines were as crazy you could get. She didn't need a dangerous client to deal with now as well.

Sonny: " So, I was thinking that we should discuss the terms of you working for me tomorrow over breakfast." Sonny said in husky voice brushing his fingers over his curly hair.

Is this guy for real? Alexis thought to herself again.

Alexis: "Sorry, to disappoint you Mr. Corinthos, but I have enough clients as it is. From what I know, you will require my full time attention with the charges you rack up on a daily basis anyway. I just don't have that sort of time to give you." ,Alexis said in her lawyer tone hoping that he would back off on reason. After all, she didn't need to get on the bad side of the town Don.

Sonny: "Okay. I understand." Sonny said easily.

Alexis: "Okay." , Alexis said surprised at how easily he gave up.

Sonny: "Goodnight Ms. Davis." , he said in a soft tone.

Alexis: "Goodnight Mr. Corinthos." and she hung up the phone fast. She sighed to herself in relief. "Well that was interesting." , she whispered to herself.

Sonny finally hung up the phone with a mischievous smile playing on his face. He looked out the window again. "Well Ms. Davis, I understand, but doesn't mean I accept. And what you don't know about me is that I always get what I want."

Chapter two:

It was morning and the snowstorm had died down. Alexis woke up. After she stretched, she got up from her bed and opened her curtains letting in the warmth of sunlight wash over her while she gazed up at the clear blue sky that went on forever . As she looked down at the city, the snow and ice covered plants and buildings shimmered with the new found sunlight. She smiled to herself at its beauty.

Alexis decided to take the day off from work. It wasn't something she usually did, but today she felt lazy and thought to herself why not. Besides, she really wasn't in the mood to drive through all that snow today. She took a hot shower and got dressed in her pink cashmere sweater and a pair of blue jeans that perfectly hugged her every curve. Her hair was tied up in a cute ponytail.

As she came down the stairs, there was a knock on the door. Who could that be at 8 o'clock in the morning in this weather? Alexis thought to herself. She opened the door and was surprised at who it was...

Sonny: "Goodmorning Ms. Davis." , Sonny said with a smile showing off his trademark dimples, with one hand on the doorway leaning and the other on his pocket. He was dressed in a long black coat.

Alexis immediately recognized that it was the man she had the conversation with the other night on her cell phone. She saw his pictures many times in the newspapers. All she could think to herself was that his pictures didn't do him any justice. This was one sexy looking man. Sexy and powerful the illegal way was a dangerous combination.

Alexis: "Goodmorning Mr. Corinthos." , she said slowly curious as to why he was here. "What are you doing here?"

Sonny: "Why Ms. Davis, did you forget about our breakfast date this morning?"

Before Alexis could respond, he stepped aside while a man dressed in white attire and a chef hat wheeled in a table with breakfast next to her dining table. Sonny paid the man and thanked him while Alexis just stood there with her hands at her hips upset at this man's boldness to just walse into her home without her permission. Ofcourse the two huge bodyguards outside her penthouse did not escape her attention either.

Sonny ofcourse was well aware of the holes that were burning through his back. He closed the door when the chef left and turned around to find the most intense brown eyes staring back at him ready to eat him alive.

Alexis: "Who the hell do you think you are? You can't just come into my home like that, and didn't we have this conversation last night that I was not going to be your lawyer?", Alexis started angrily. She knew how these gangster types were. They liked to take control of everything. Not that she wasn't a control freak herself, but she wasn't going to let another man tell her what to do and certainly not a want to be client.

Sonny: "Well counselor, you do eat breakfast don't you? And popcorn doesn't count." , he said smiling inwardly while taking off his coat and placing it neatly on her desk chair revealing a silk red shirt and black slacks.

Alexis: "How did you know that I like popcorn?" , Alexis said alittle disturbed.

Sonny: "I know everything counselor." , he said in a stern voice. "You really should learn to cook instead of ordering in all that takeout at the grill. Maybe I could give you some cooking lessons if you would like." , he said sincerely as he walked up to her rolling up his sleeves and looking deep into her eyes. God she was beautiful angry, he thought to himself. Even more beautiful than he imagined she would be face to face.

He could tell she was fuming now. So he walked to the table and held out a chair for her.

Alexis walked to the door and opened it.

Alexis: "I' ll eat once you leave, and I mean now." , she said more angrily.

Sonny: "I will, after I eat breakfast." , Sonny said walking to the other side of the table and sitting down. He opened one of the dishes. "I believe you love pancakes." Sonny said looking back at her with a boyish grin.

Alexis turned back around at the door to see that the two bodyguards were staring back at her expressionless. She smiled at them with a fake grin and slammed back the door. Sonny just looked at her and chuckled.

Alexis stood there staring at him contemplating the options. A) Stand there and watch him eat because obviously the arrogant jerk wasn't going anywhere or B) eat her favorite breakfast that smelled delicious from across the room with the most gorgeous man she had ever layed eyes on and then tell him off. Option B sounded the most rewarding.

She went over to him and sat down across from him both staring back at eachother.

Boy, this was what she got for taking the day off from work. But two can play this game Mr.Corinthos.
