Love and Lies

Chapter One:

The story begins right after Sonny and Alexis had their conversation about where they stand now that Carly is alive…

Harbor View Towers

Alexis locked the door as Sonny left, her hand braced against the door for a moment. The tears rolled down her smooth face as she leaned her back against the door and sank to the floor. The pain was greater than Alexis thought she could handle. The man she loved has admitted that he never stopped loving his ex-wife. Alexis composed herself, wiped off her tears with the back of her hand quickly, got up and straightened out her suit.

I’m a grown independent woman. I can handle this. Alexis said to herself letting out a breath of air as she tried to hold back the new tears starting to form in her eyes. I’ll be fine. She took one last look at the door and then headed upstairs to her room.

Meanwhile outside the door, Sonny stood with his palm bracing against Alexis’s door. His eyes got glossy. He knew that Alexis was hurting. He knew that she wasn’t fine. He could see the hurt forming in her eyes as she tried to be strong and accept his feelings for Carly. Sonny didn’t know what his feelings really were for Carly actually. All he knew was that she was once a big part of his life with Michael and now he was given a second chance with a family. He never got a second chance with Brenda and Lily, but somehow God gave him a chance to change and forgive now that Carly isn’t dead.

The Hospital

Carly sat in her bed thinking about Sonny. She had just seen Bobbie, Mike and Jax. They all told her how much Sonny was torn up over her death. Mike told her how guilty Sonny felt for her death. Carly smiled to herself biting her lip. Everything was going according to plan. Sonny would be hers in no time. She closed her eyes, happy at the thought that Sonny was so concerned for her. Carly breathed a sigh of relief…now all she had to do was milk this situation for all its worth. Carly got up, looked out her room window to make sure no one was around, and got dressed.

Sonny’s Penthouse

Sonny sat at his desk looking over some papers. His mind kept wondering back to his conversation with Alexis an hour ago. Thinking about it just made Sonny sadder. He leaned back into his chair and swung it around. His eyes fell upon the dining table.

“You know, there is nothing sexier than a woman biting on a strawberry.” Sonny teased as Alexis bit into the strawberry. She turned to face him as he showed off his dimples. Alexis smiled back blushing a rosy color on her soft cheeks shaking her head.

He could still hear Alexis’s voice ringing through the room as she giggled that morning after the night they made love. Sonny smiled as the memories flooded back to him.

Sonny snapped out of his thoughts as he heard a knock at the door. He rubbed his face with both of his hands and opened the door.

“Carly.”

“Hello Sonny.” Carly said simply smiling. This was it…she repeated to herself. It was all or nothing now. There was no going back.

Chapter Two:

The Next Day

Alexis woke up that morning throwing up and decided to stay in bed a little longer. When she finally got up and got dressed, she found a pile of work waiting for her on her desk. As she looked through her papers, she realized that she needed Sonny’s signature for some of them. She dreaded walking across the hall to see him. She thought about it. The worse that could happen is that they feel uncomfortable for a few minutes while he signs them, or he’s not even home and went to see Carly at the hospital.

Alexis snapped out of her thoughts, since when does she let personal feelings get in the way of being a professional? Alexis grabbed her papers and her glasses and walked across the hall. She took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

Alexis was shocked to see Carly open the door. Carly gave out a yawn and stretched. She was wearing a t-shirt and pair of sweats that belonged to Sonny. Carly gave a wicked grin. “Good Morning Alexis.”

Alexis felt like she just got stabbed in the heart. “Hi…” she said feeling uncomfortable. When she finally let herself breathe, she handed Carly the contracts. “Do me a favor, and just give Sonny these contracts. I need his signature.” She said handing them to Carly and then was about to walk away trying to leave the uncomfortable situation. She knew that it would be hard to deal with the fact that Sonny chose Carly, but now she felt like she was suffocating trying to bottle up her feelings.

“Alexis wait.” Carly said stopping Alexis in her tracks. “I just wanted to thank you for being there for Sonny during my absence. I know that it must have been hard for him to believe that I was dead. He told me how guilty you both felt for my death.” Carly smiled inwardly.

Alexis turned around. She thought that Carly couldn’t remember that night. “Guilty?” she said confused.

“Sonny and I had a long talk last night. We talked about us and he forgave me. Then I started getting flashbacks of that night, seeing you and Sonny in bed and then Zander throwing me out of his room. Well, that night doesn’t matter anymore. Sonny and I worked it out and we decided to start all over and forget the past. I just wanted to let you know that you don’t have to feel guilty for anything because in the end, Sonny chose what he wanted. As you can see, he took very good care of me last night.” Carly said in her usual snide tone.

At that moment, Alexis had a daydream of strangling Carly to death and repeatedly hitting her head against the wall. Alexis shook her head out of the dream and smiled to herself stifling an outward grin. That moment reminded of her of her wedding to Ned when she had those visions of having being attached to Ned with a ball and chain and having his rock in roll kids.

Alexis knew she needed to get out of there before the Cassidine in her broke out, so she came up with an excuse. “Well, I’m glad it all worked out for you both. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a prior engagement to attend to.” Alexis said walking back to her apartment quickly and slamming the door behind her. That bastard couldn’t wait a few more weeks before he took Carly to bed just two weeks after our night? Alexis felt rage and pain all at once. She saw one of those ugly statues that Stefan sent her as a gift sitting on her desk and was about to make it disappear into a thousand pieces across the room when the phone rang.

“Hi Ned. Breakfast at Kelly’s? Sounds good.” She said hanging up the phone.

Breakfast, that is exactly what I need. Alexis didn’t realize it, but she was eating more than usual.

Sonny’s Penthouse

Sonny walked down the stairs as Carly was snooping through the contracts that Alexis brought over. “Hey, did you get a goodnight sleep?” Sonny said startling Carly as she quickly dropped the papers before he saw her.

“Yeah, thanks for letting me sleep in the guestroom.” Carly said hiding her disappointment. Her and Sonny did talk for an hour last night and they did talk about the night of her accident. Sonny did forgive her, but the only way Carly could get Sonny to touch her or come close was when she faked the head pains. Finally Sonny just cooked her some dinner and made her rest in the guestroom. Carly thought that he would make a move but instead he dodged her advances towards him.

Carly started acting chipper. “Hey, I’m starving. What are you cooking for breakfast?”

“Nothing.” Sonny said. “I have a meeting with Benny at Kelly’s now. But first, I am going to take you to Bobbie’s to stay with her and Michael there. I don’t think it’s good for you to be alone and Bobbie wants to take care of you. She was really torn up over your death.” Carly felt guilty at that moment.

Carly pouted. “But I thought maybe I could stay here with you.” She said coming close to Sonny. He walked past her to look at the papers on his desk.

“Carly, I don’t think that’s a good idea to move that quick. I have to be honest, I don’t know where we go from here. Besides, its not right to put Michael through another change if we are not sure its really going to happen.” Sonny said. “Did Alexis bring these papers over?” Sonny asked.

“Yeah, she did. A few minutes ago.” Carly said hands crossing her arms in front of her. So, Sonny was having doubts and I bet it’s all about Ms. Attorney at law, Carly thought to herself. Well, I will just have to fix that now won’t I.

As Alexis was leaving her penthouse, Sonny and Carly were leaving too. Everyone stood still for an awkward moment. Carly could see the stares between Sonny and Alexis. Something just went soft in their eyes as they connected for a brief second.

“Hey.” Sonny said simply never breaking eye contact with Alexis.

“Hey.” Alexis said drowning in his chocolate eyes.

There was a pause. “I’m going over to Kelly’s to see Ned.” Alexis blurted out trying to fill the silence. She thought she saw a tinge of jealousy in Sonny’s eyes when she said that.

“What a coincidence, I’m headed there right now too. Do you need a ride?” Sonny said hopeful she would take up his offer.

“No, really, its fine.” Alexis said trying to get out of it. Stuck in a limo with both Sonny and Carly was just too much for her to handle. “I have my car.”

“I insist. I need to discuss those contracts you brought over before I sign them. I am just taking Carly to Bobbies, and then we can discuss it on our way over to Kelly’s. I’m sure Ned won’t mind if you’re a few minutes late.” Sonny said confidently.

By now, Carly was fuming. He was talking about her like she wasn’t even there, like she as a child.

“Carly, you don’t have a problem with that, do you?” Sonny said. Carly tried to fake a smile. “Of course not. You and Alexis have business to discuss, why would I have a problem with that?” she said sweetly as she smiled at Sonny and her eyes went dead as she looked at Alexis. Carly couldn’t believe that Sonny would expect her to stay in a limo with Alexis after everything that happened.

“Good.” Sonny said ending the conversation.

Before Alexis could even protest, the elevator doors opened. “Ladies.” Sonny said shining his dimples while Carly got in first. As Alexis walked in, Sonny walked behind her closely with his hand gently on her back guiding her in. Alexis felt a shiver go down her spine, which did not go unnoticed by Sonny.

Chapter Three:

Alexis sat on one side of the limo as Sonny and Carly sat across from her. Tensions were high and everyone was uncomfortable. Carly sat really close to Sonny entwining her fingers with his and resting her head on his shoulders. Sonny had a far away look as he stared out the window. Alexis sat across trying to control her breathing. She was furious that Sonny would put her through this situation. Alexis didn’t know how much more she could take of sitting there and watching Carly put her hands all over Sonny. So, she fiddled with some papers in her bag.

When the limo finally pulled up to the Brownstone, Carly gave Sonny a kiss on the cheek just to tick Alexis off some more. She was claiming her territory. But even Alexis noticed that Sonny wasn’t responding to Carly’s but brushed it off. When Carly got out, she gave a fake grin and waved goodbye to the limo as it left. Carly ran into the house and looked around to make sure no one was around. She picked up the phone and dialed a number… “I need to see you.” She said in an angry tone.

In the Limo

As soon as the limo pulled away from the Brownstone…

“What the hell do you think you are doing Corinthos?” Alexis yelled at Sonny letting out all her frustrations, which took Sonny by surprise.

“Why did you make me take this limo ride with you and Carly? Do you have no respect for my feelings whatsoever or even Carly’s?! I know that she knows about that night we slept together, yet you force us both to sit in this limo together! The contracts could have waited.” Alexis yelled out.

Sonny gave a half smile. So, it did bother her to see him with Carly. She does have feelings for me even though she keeps acting like she is okay. Suddenly Sonny’s eyes went soft.

“I’m sorry.” He said in a soft voice. “I didn’t want to cause you any pain, I just wanted to make sure you were really okay like you keep saying.”

“Well as you can see, I am just fine. Oh, and look at that, we’re here.” Alexis said nervously as they reached Kelly’s.

Alexis immediately went to open the door but Sonny placed his hand on top of hers as it lay tightly on the door handle and he looked deep into her eyes.

“We’re okay, right?” he asked her in a soft tone again, his eyes pleading for her to say yes.

Alexis almost got lost in his chocolate eyes. She didn’t know what was going with him, but for some reason he needed more assurance. She gave him a warm smile. “Yes, we’re okay.” She said in a low tone. Sonny smiled back. Alexis almost thought Sonny looked a little sad in his eyes.

Sonny finally let go of her arm slowly and watched as Alexis walked out of the limo and into Kelly’s. Sonny wiped his face with both his hands and walked out too. He entered Kelly’s to see Alexis already seated at a table with Ned. Right behind them, Benny was seated at another table waiting for him.

He sat down across from Benny with a perfect view of Alexis just a few feet away facing him. Benny went through the motions, telling Sonny about business and things he needed to deal with immediately.

Sonny stopped paying attention when he looked over at Ned and Alexis’s table.

Alexis looked at the food the waiter brought her and all of a sudden felt nauseous.

“Hey, are you okay?” Ned said looking at Alexis worried.

“Me? I’m fine.” She said nervously breathing. Why did this food make her feel sick all of a sudden? One minute she is craving everything in the menu, and the next she can’t stand to look at any of it.

“Are you sure? Alexis, you look a little pale.” Ned said running the back of his hand on Alexis forehead and then down her neck to see if her skin was warm.

Sonny couldn’t take his angry eyes off of the scene before him. His hand wrapped tightly around the hot coffee to control the jealousy that raged within as the features on his face went dead.

“Really, I’m fine. I just haven’t been getting enough sleep lately…you know..with this whole Carly mess…” She trailed off trying to get Ned to stop worrying.

“Okay, if you say so.” Ned said understandingly resting his hand on her hand that was on the table.

Sonny fought every urge not to go over there and find out why Ned had his hands all over Alexis like that. What did Nedly think he was pulling anyway? Wasn’t he bedding Kristina, Alexis’s sister? Where does he get off thinking he can lay his hands on Alexis like that? Sonny thought.

Suddenly Sonny had a daydream of walking over to Alexis’s table, punching Ned out and throwing him through the glass doors. Sonny smiled at the thought to himself as he drank his coffee.

Alexis looked at Sonny from across the tables as her eyes met his. Sonny grinned a big dimpled smile at her. Alexis couldn’t help herself but smile back at him. Why was Sonny grinning at her like that?

Alexis couldn’t take it anymore. She had to get out of there before she lost control. Damn those dimples, Alexis thought to herself.

“Can you drive me to the courthouse?” she asked Ned.

“Sure.” Ned said as he got up and opened the door for Alexis as they left Kelly’s.

Sonny watched intently as Alexis and Ned left which did not go unnoticed by Benny because the boss was ignoring him. But Benny thought it was better not to say anything at all.

“Boss, there is something else we need to discuss. I saved it for last because its something you are not going to like.” Benny said nervously worried about the boss’s reaction.

Sonny finally looked at Benny with a serious look.

“Jason called…” Benny said slowly. “It’s about Carly’s death.”

Chapter Four:

Sonny slammed the door to his penthouse, took off his jacket, unbuttoned the top of his shirt, and went straight to the bar.

Carly walked in with the penthouse gleefully with a bunch of shopping bags in her hands. Sonny was still staring at his drink. Carly dropped her bags by his desk and went over to give Sonny a kiss when he turned to her with as she gave him a kiss on the lips.

"What's wrong?" - Carly said noticing that Sonny didn't respond to it.

"Nothing." - Sonny

Carly looked at him suspiciously but thought that Sonny was just having a bad day with business and turned around to get her bags…

"Just that my wife is a lying betraying tramp." - Sonny said giving a fake grin as Carly turned around with a shocked rage in her eyes.

"What's the matter Carly, the truth hurt?" -Sonny gulping down the glass.

Carly was about to open her mouth when Sonny went on.

"Yeah I know how that goes. Our whole relationship is based on it. You lie and betray me, I find out and it hurts. Then I'm stupid enough to take you back so we can start the cycle all over again."

"Sonny, I don't know what the hell you're talking about…" - Carly started furiously.

"Sure you do." - Sonny said still calm.
"Jason told me all about this afternoon. You made me think you were dead to punish me. You made your car go into a lake, then you hid away so everyone could think that you were dead."

Carly showed that little tear in her eye and started yelling. "I was hurt! I saw you in bed with Alexis! How was I suppose to feel? Huh?" She said walking closer to him as Sonny walked away to the window. "How I am suppose to feel when I see my husband in bed with another woman?!"

Sonny darted around angrily. "Your husband? Since when? We're divorced Carly! I tried to give you a second chance but I wasn't good enough even though you were the one that betrayed me. Remember?

Carly was still angry and crying now. "Fine, then the man I love." She said bitterly.

Sonny let out a laugh that rang through the penthouse looking down and then looked at her. He walked up to her and looked her dead in the eyes. "Love? You love me? Did you love me when you screwed me over to the FEDS because I wouldn't give up the organization for you? Did you love me when you were throwing yourself at Zander, Roy and whoever else came in contact with you? Candyboy too I bet, huh? Did you love me when you were eating French fries a week ago in some sleazy bar when you knew I was searching for you thinking you were dead?" Sonny said a low harsh tone. "What about Michael? Did you think twice about him when you played Houdini? Let's not forget Bobbie. Do you have any idea the pain you caused her when she thought she lost another daughter?"

Carly looked away guilty.

"Look at me!" Sonny demanded. He came up closer to her still staring at her in the eyes.

"If that is love, then I would rather be alone." -Sonny

Carly gave a bitter laugh. "Really? Sure you wouldn't love for Alexis to warm up your sheets again? Mmmm? It's all the old hag is good for anyway." She said in her usual bitchy tone.

Sonny immediately got angry, took the glass on the bar and threw it across the room making Carly jump.

"Shut up." - Sonny said in a slow deadly tone. "Don't say something you will regret Carly."

Sonny's tone sent shivers down Carly's spine. But she continued. She knew that she was pushing Sonny's buttons now. "So, do you pay the lawyer slash whore extra for her services, or is it free for her friends?"

"I don't know, you tell me." Sonny said as he caught Carly's hand before it hit his cheek.

With Sonny still holding her hand harshly with a cold stare, Carly got softer and touched his face softly and came up closer. "Oh baby, come on. Let's not fight anymore. Alexis can't make you happy like I do. Things were going so well. You forgave me for the FEDS, you can forgive me for this." She said suddenly in a seductive tone.

There was a pause.

Sonny licked his lips, he slowly moved his face closer to hers with his lips inches away from hers, his warm breathe on hers as Carly closed her eyes.

"NOT." Sonny said grinning as Carly's eyes flew open in rage as Sonny tightened his grip around her arm and dragged her to the door. "I'll never make that mistake again."

Carly struggled to get away as Sonny flew open the door and threw Carly at Johnny as he grabbed her. Sonny didn't need to say anything to Johnny. Johnny knew the routine. He grabbed Carly by the waist as she kicked and screamed and got into the elevator with her.

"You'll pay for this Sonny!" Carly yelled out as Sonny watched her disappear behind the elevator doors. I already have he said to himself. Note to myself, Johnny gets a raise.

Alexis came out of her penthouse to see what all the commotion was in the hall.

"Sonny, what was all that noise?" she said concerned.

"Johnny was taking out the garbage." he said simply.

"Oh okay." Alexis said confused.

Concerned, Sonny noticed that Alexis looked pale as she leaned against the wall.

"Alexis are you ok…" He said trailing off running to her side in time to catch her before she hit the floor.

Chapter Five:

Sonny picked Alexis up into his strong arms and carried her into his penthouse. He layed her gently on the couch.

Alexis slowly opened her eyes as Sonny sat down beside her body on the couch holding her hand.

“Alexis.”, Sonny said softly.

Alexis tried to get up but Sonny gently pressed her body back down.

“What happened?” Alexis said confused.

“You fainted.”

“Again?” Alexis said in disbelief not realizing what she said until after the words left her mouth.

“Again?” Sonny said confused. Alexis put her hand on her head.

“Yeah, I sort of fainted at the courthouse.” She said as Sonny looked more concerned now. But Alexis tried to calm him down. “But I’m fine. Ned was there.” She said noticing the look on Sonny’s face. She thought for a second she saw that tinge of jealousy in his eyes again but brushed it off.

“Nedly was there and didn’t take you to a doctor?” Sonny said still worried.

Alexis tried to pacify him. “I was fine, it was just for a second. It’s probably because I didn’t eat anything today. Nothing for you to worry about.” Alexis said getting up. Kristina had actually noticed that she wasn’t feeling well and was pushing her to see the doctor. So, she did make a doctor’s appointment for tomorrow.

Alexis felt nervous now having Sonny so close to her as he brushed her bangs from her face and got up to get a glass of water off the stand as Sonny watched her.

“You know, it’s not really a good idea for you to be here. I’m sure Carly is waiting for you across the hall.” Alexis said after sipping her glass. Her facial expression gave away her sadness but Sonny couldn’t see it because her back was to him.

“She’s not there.” Sonny said in a stoic voice.

“Then you wouldn’t want her to walk in and see us here when she gets home.” Alexis said.

“She’s not coming back and my penthouse is not her home.” Sonny said as a matter of fact.

Alexis turned around confused and saw as Sonny just sat there looking down as he took off his wedding ring. She placed her glass back on the stand and sat back next to Sonny. She noticed that after Carly came back from the dead he put it back on since the divorce.

Sonny was just staring at the ring. “Carly faked her death. Jason found out. When Benny told me, I was in disbelief. I had to hear it from Jason himself.” He said simply.

Alexis was angry. How could Carly do that to Sonny after everything that happened?

She placed her soft hands on Sonny’s as he entangled his fingers with hers. He looked up into her soulful eyes. “I’m sorry.” Was all Alexis could whisper feeling Sonny’s pain.

“I’m not.” Sonny said half smiling. “I realized today that I’m not in love with Carly. I confused that with caring about her and just loving her as Micheal’s mother when she died. I knew Carly was lying about something. I saw it in her eyes the night she came over. I was just too blind with guilt about being the cause of her death to see it or do anything about it.”

“Oh, so you had Johnny do something about it?” Alexis said smiling realizing that the noise she heard in the hallway was Carly’s screams.

Sonny gave a laugh tightening his fingers around Alexis’s. Alexis looked down at their hands and then her smile faded which did not go unnoticed by Sonny. She just remembered that she saw Carly at Sonny’s door that next morning wearing his clothes. He slept with Carly without another thought about her or so Alexis thought anyway. For some reason she couldn’t stand Sonny touching her now.

Alexis got up quickly trying to change the subject.

“I got some work to do right now, okay?” Alexis said fidgeting with some papers on her desk avoiding Sonny’s eyes.

“Ah…sure.” Sonny said not wanting to push her. He knew it must not have been easy for Alexis to sit there and listen about him and Carly in anyway.

“But, you’re going to see a doctor.” Sonny said. It wasn’t a question. It was a statement.

“First thing tomorrow, promise.” Alexis said opening the door for Sonny to leave.

“And you’re going to eat. How about I make you some dinner tonight?” Sonny said hopeful.

“Can’t. Kristina went to get us Chinese food.”

“How about tomorrow?”

“Ned is taking me out to dinner at the grille.” Alexis said noticing the look of disappointment in Sonny’s face.

“Why?” Sonny said annoyed. Ned again? What’s that all about? He thought jealous.

Alexis looked at Sonny. “That’s none of your business. Now if you don’t mind, I…”

“…have work to do. I know. I know.” Sonny said finishing her sentence as he left. Alexis shut the door behind her leaning back against it letting out a deep breath.

Sonny walked back into his penthouse, closed the door behind him, threw the ring into his desk draw and made a phone call. “Hey, Jason. You wanted to discuss some business. How about at the grille tomorrow night?…Great. I’ll meet you there.” Sonny put the phone down smiling to himself.

A Dark Alley Outside of Town

Carly paced back and forth in the alley furiously. “Throw me out again!” she yelled to herself with her hands in the air. “NO! Not again!”

“Calm yourself you little twit.” A dark shadow said in an annoyed deadly voice.

“I bet he’s with her right now too!” Carly said too angry thinking about Sonny with Alexis to care what the figure was saying to her. She couldn’t get the image of seeing them in bed out of her mind. Carly knew after the look she saw in Sonny’s eyes when he threw her out that it was truly over.

“What do you want to do?” Hellena said in a wicked voice as she walked out of the shadows closer to Carly.

“I want them both dead.” Carly said with a low angry tone. If she couldn’t have Sonny, no one could.

Chapter Six:

Sonny strolled into the Grille and walked over to Jason who was sitting at the bar sipping a drink.

Jason: “Hey, why did we have to meet here to do business? Are we meeting someone?”

Sonny sat down next to him on one of the stools looking around the room.

Sonny: “Jason, you need to get out more. Besides, if you don’t get out, you’ll miss some of the wonderful things in life.” Sonny said locking his eyes on Alexis who had just walked in with Ned from across the room.

Sonny was in awe. Alexis looked absolutely beautiful in a baby blue dress that hugged her every curve and that ended right above her knees showing off her long smooth legs. Her silky hair was down flowing on her soft neck as she moved.

As Ned pulled out a chair for Alexis so that she was facing the bar, her eyes locked with Sonny’s as he gave her a dimpled smile that almost caused her to stop breathing. Why is he here and why is he staring at me like that again? Alexis thought to herself as she sipped her water as Ned sat down across from her.

For the next hour, Jason and Sonny sat at a table a few feet away from Ned and Alexis. Sonny was sitting right across Alexis.

Jason got annoyed and decided to snap Sonny out of his thoughts.

Jason: “Man, where have you been all night?”

Sonny: “What?” Sonny said confused finally paying attention to Jason again and taking his eyes off of Alexis.

Jason: “What’s up with you? You have barely said two words tonight. That’s usually my thing. At first I thought it was because of the mess Carly caused, but now…”

Sonny: “I’m just taking in the view of Port Charles finest.” Sonny said cutting Jason off and looking back at Alexis as he caught her eyes spying on him.

Jason: “You mean Alexis?” Jason said smiling. “You haven’t taken your eyes off of her since we got here Sonny. Can’t you see she is on a date with Ned?” Sonny nearly choked on his roll and drank some water to wash it down.

Sonny: “They’re not on a date, they can’t be. Ned is dating her sister. There is no way Alexis would give Nedly the time of day romantically now that he has slept with her sister.” Sonny said sure of himself. “They are just having a friendly dinner.”

Jason: “Whom are you trying to convince, me or yourself?” he said chuckling and taking a glance backwards as he saw Ned lead Alexis to the dance floor. “Yeah, real friendly, wouldn’t you say?” Jason said turning as he saw Sonny whisk pass him to the dance floor.

Alexis looked over Ned’s shoulder as they danced and saw that Sonny was approaching them. What’s he doing now?

Ned felt a tap on his shoulders.

Sonny: “May I cut in?”

Ned hesitated a second but saw that Alexis was okay with it and walked back to the table.

Sonny: “Hi.”

Alexis: “Hi.”

Sonny brought a nervous Alexis close to his body as they slowly swayed their bodies to the smooth jazz music playing. Alexis felt like they were the only two people in the room now as she felt Sonny’s strong arms hold her.

Alexis: “What are you doing here?”

Sonny: “Jason and I had some business to take care of.”

Alexis: “Should I ask which business?” she said skeptical.

Sonny: “You can ask me anything you want Alexis, just remember it doesn’t mean I’ll give you an answer.”

Alexis: “Let’s not ruin the mood then.”

Sonny: “Let’s not.” He said smiling again as Alexis slowly returned it with a smile of her own. “So, dinner with Ned? You two looked cozy.”

Alexis: “Ned and I are very close friends Sonny, you know that.” She said mischievously looking into his obviously jealous eyes.

Sonny: “How close?” Sonny pried not sure if he wanted the answer.

Alexis: “That’s none of your business Sonny.”

Sonny looked into her eyes and saw that she was playing with his head and gave a wicked grin.

He pulled Alexis’s body as close as he could get to his his own and whispered seductively into her ears dancing with her cheek to cheek.

Sonny: “Did I mention how sexy you looked tonight?”

Alexis thought she felt like her knees would give out right there as she inhaled Sonny’s sweet cologne and felt the warmth of his breath on her ears.

Sonny moved his mouth down to her bare shoulders where her dress strap was and kissed her tenderly on it as Alexis closed her eyes feeling his soft lips as they lingered on her skin.

Sonny raised his lips back up to her ears.

Sonny: “Alexis, I have never stopped thinking about you since that night we made love.” He said in a whisper that sent shivers down Alexis’s spine.

Alexis: “Really? Were you thinking about me when you bedded Carly two weeks after that night?” she said in a low bitter whisper as Sonny looked back at Alexis’s face and saw the sadness in her eyes.

Alexis pushed Sonny away and walked out to the veranda letting the cool breeze wash over her as she contained the tears that were starting to form in her eyes.

Sonny ran after her and grabbed Alexis to turn around and face him.

Sonny: “Alexis, I never slept with Carly. I haven’t since I threw her out of my house.”

Alexis looked into his eyes.

Alexis: “But I saw her at your penthouse Sonny. She was wearing your clothes. She spent the night. How stupid do you think I am?” she said angrily.

Sonny: “Alexis, I swear on everything that is real between us that I never slept with Carly. She slept in the guest room because she was having headaches. I was just trying to take care of her. Nothing happened.” Sonny said in a serious voice.

Alexis just stared at him seeing that he was telling the truth.

Sonny: “Do you think so little of me? Do you really think I would just do that to you or to Carly?” Sonny said looking deeper into Alexis eyes as he snaked his arms around her to comfort her.

Alexis leaned in and hugged him tightly.

Alexis: “I’m sorry Sonny. I should have realized when I went to your door that morning that Carly was just messing with my head.”

Sonny pulled back from Alexis looking down at her cherry lips and crashed his lips upon them in an undying hunger not being able to hold it in anymore.

Alexis returned Sonny’s kiss with equal passion as she held him close to her body by the shoulders.

Sonny pulled back as they listened to each other’s heavy breathing and kissed her back tenderly one more time.

Alexis smiled up at him as he pulled back and her fingers played with his tie.

Alexis: “I’m ready to go home, how about you?”

Sonny: “Is that an invitation?”

Alexis kissed him back nibbling on his lower lip. Sonny grinned.

Sonny: “I thought you’d never ask.” He said as he held her hand and led her back inside the restaurant.

Everyone in the restaurant was staring at them as they walked in especially Ned, Jason and Kristina who were having a conversation at the bar. Any reservation that Sonny had about Ned wanting Alexis was put to rest when he saw Ned kiss Kristina on the lips.

Sonny and Alexis said their goodbyes to them leaving together as Jason looked on with a happy grin at seeing Sonny with a good woman that made him happy. Ned and Kristina looked on disapprovingly but were happy for Alexis anyway.

Sonny and Alexis climbed into the limo. As soon as Sonny got in and the limo moved, he grabbed both sides of Alexis’s face kissing her again. His body pushed hers backwards against the cool leather seat as he lay on top of her devouring her mouth and neck.

Alexis: “Sonny, there’s something I need to tell you. It’s about my doctor’s appointment this morning.” She said trying to get Sonny’s attention.

Sonny looked up at her stopping his sweet caresses with concern.

Suddenly Sonny and Alexis felt something hit the limo hard from behind that sent them into a jolt. Sonny and Alexis immediately got up as Sonny looked out the rear window. There was a black car that was purposely hitting the limo causing some serious damage. Sonny couldn’t see the driver because of the darkness of the night.

Sonny: “Max!” Sonny yelled into the intercom. “We’ve got trouble, speed it up.” Sonny said holding a panicked Alexis close to him and trying to get his gun out of the secret place under the leather seats.

Max: “Boss, I’m trying…but….”

Alexis: “Sonny!” Alexis screamed…

Chapter Seven:

Sonny coughed as he held his hand up to his aching head. The limo had crashed to the side of the road and into a tree. Once Sonny composed himself, he panicked as he looked to his side and saw Alexis unconscious beside him. He brushed her hair out of her face and whispered her name trying to wake her up. Sonny was really worried now as he saw the side of her face bleeding from a cut. Sonny called out to Max who woke up from the front of the limo. Sonny was relieved that Max was alive. They gently carried Alexis out of the limo and laid her on the ground. Sonny sat down beside her holding her close and covering her body with his jacket. She was still breathing. Sonny could feel his heart pounding faster. He would have died if anything had happened to her.

Max scouted the area and no one was around. Whoever tried to kill them was long gone. Max found his cell phone and called for back up. He then found a cottage up ahead which was good because it was starting to drizzle. Sonny carried Alexis in his arms as they walked down the dirt road to it. Sonny recognized that it was Nikolas Cassidine's cottage. As Max opened the door to the abandoned cottage, Sonny gently placed Alexis on the couch and wrapped her in some blankets they found in the closet. Max found a first aid kit and Sonny tended to the cut Alexis had on her head. She slowly began to stir waking up calling out Sonny's name.

Sonny: "Hey baby. I'm right here." He said warmly caressing her cheek. Alexis tried to get up but Sonny gently pushed her back down on the couch. "It's ok. You need to lay down, you got hurt in the accident."

Alexis: "Accident?" she said a little confused and then everything rushed back to her about what happened. Alexis began to panic throwing the blanket off and looking at her tummy.

Sonny: "Hey hey…it's just a cut on your head sweetheart." Trying to calm her down but he saw the terror on her face.

Alexis: "No..no.. Sonny you don't understand. The baby could be hurt." She said tears flowing down her face as the thought of loosing her child filled her head. Sonny looked at her in shock and yelled at Max to get his doctor down there right now. He pulled Alexis close to him trying to comfort her and placing his hand on top of hers that lay on her stomach. Sonny's heart starting pounding faster again…he couldn't loose another child.

Sonny gave Alexis a glass of water to calm her down as the doctor checked her out. Sonny and Alexis stayed in silence as the doctor did his job. Sonny sat down beside Alexis holding her hand as she squeezed his tight. After a while, the doctor finally spoke.

Doctor: "Well…I am glad to inform you that your baby is okay."

Alexis let out her breath as she gave a small smile. Sonny smiled back rubbing her back as they listened to the doctor go on.

Doctor: "But you need to go to the hospital in the morning to have some tests run just to make sure. You both are very lucky that the accident was just minor and both you as well as your child were not injured."

Sonny and Alexis thanked the doctor and watched as Max escorted him out of the cottage and back to his car. Now they were alone.

Sonny sat down close to Alexis and looked into her beautiful brown eyes. Sonny: "So, we're going to have a baby." He said more as a statement than question. Alexis looked into his eyes with a warm smile putting her palm up to his cheek.

Alexis: "Surprise. I wanted to tell you earlier. And yes this baby is yours just in case you have doubts." Sonny gave her a wide dimpled smile and kissed her on the forehead. Then he noticed Alexis's face changed from a smile to a concerned look.

Alexis: "Sonny, what happened tonight?"

Sonny: "I don't know. Someone out there tried to kill me tonight." Sonny could see Alexis's eyes look down to her stomach as she began to worry. He placed his hand under her chin and raised her face to look back up at him.

Sonny: "Hey…I would never let anyone hurt our child or you. Who ever did this tonight will pay." Sonny said with in a serious and dangerous tone.

As Alexis looked in his eyes, she knew it was the truth. She knew Sonny would protect her and their child with his life.

Max came back in and told Sonny that Jason was on the case. Sonny didn't think it was a good idea for him and Alexis to go back to the penthouse right now. And with his men roaming around the area protecting them and the cops at the accident scene, he figured they were safe at the cottage for tonight. Johnny came over with some of Sonny's clothes.

Sonny and Alexis decided the best thing they could do now was get some rest. Max and Johnny stayed downstairs on night watch.

Sonny lay down on the bed shirtless in the main bedroom as Alexis walked out of the bathroom wearing the shirt she wore the night after they first made love. Sonny noticed that she was less nervous wearing it than that morning he made her breakfast. She looked comfortable. Sonny's gaze followed down from her chest where a few of the buttons were open, all the way down to her silky long legs. Alexis smiled as she noticed the way he was looking at her. His heated gaze made her insides tingle. Alexis climbed into bed beside Sonny getting under the covers as she laid her head down on his chest. Sonny pulled her close with his strong arms making Alexis feel safe. His hand trailed down to her stomach as he thought about their baby. Alexis kissed him on the cheek as she snuggled up against him and fell asleep.

Sonny looked down at Alexis as he watched her peacefully fall asleep. He then began going over the accident in his head and it still didn't make sense to him why it happened. He couldn't even think of any his enemies that would be bold enough to come after him. As Sonny thought about it more, he vowed that he would not loose another woman he loved or child. He leaned the side of his head against Alexis's and fell asleep.

Chapter Eight:

Sonny took Alexis to the hospital the next day. The tests all came back positive. Their baby was just fine. Sonny was in awe as the doctor let them listen to the baby’s heartbeat. It was strong and healthy. Sonny watched as Alexis’s face lit up as she listened to the constant beating sound and watched as the tears of happiness formed in her eyes.

When they rode back to her penthouse in the limo, Alexis gave her usual protest of being the independent woman when Sonny suggested that she move in with him. After five minutes of back and forth arguing, Alexis finally gave in. She saw the look of fear in his eyes. He wanted her at his bulletproof penthouse to keep her safe. And he wanted her and the baby close to him.

Alexis watched as Sonny grinned his dimples in triumph right before he gave her a passionate kiss. Sonny began pushing Alexis down again on the leather seats and Alexis stopped him by pushing him back gently up.

Sonny: “I need you.” He whispered in a husky voice as he began kissing her again.

Alexis: “Honey, we have been here and done that. And the last time it ended bad.” She said laughing as Sonny gave a frown.

Sonny: “Then I suggest we make a better ending this time.” He said nibbling on her silky neck. He could feel Alexis giving in to him.

Just as Sonny was about to work his lips down her beautiful chest, the phone rang. Sonny gave out a frustrated yell as Alexis chuckled. Sonny took the phone out of his jacket.

Sonny: “Benny this better be good!” he yelled as he felt himself growing hard. Alexis wasn’t helping the situation either as she began nibbling on his ear and unbuttoning his shirt.

Jason: “It’s me. We need to talk. NOW.”

By the tone in Jason’s voice, he could tell it was serious. Sonny closed his phone and told Alexis he needed to take care of business. He dropped her off at Harbor View Towers with Max and rode to his warehouse.

Jason shut his phone as he thought about what just happened in the past hour.

He was walking on the docks and he caught Carly having a heated conversation with Helena Cassidine. So he decided to get closer to them but stayed unseen so he could hear them.

Carly: “Well, I held up my end of our deal. Sonny and Alexis are gone as of yesterday. Now it’s your turn to hold up your end of the bargain. You’re going to help me get control of all of Sonny’s legit assets and his money. I am the mother of his child after all. He did adopt Michael and I’m sure the courts would be generous enough to give up Sonny’s wealth to his rightful heir… and of course me.” She said with a sly grin.

Helena stood there reading the newspaper with Andreas standing behind her.

Helena: “You caused them to have a car accident.” She said emotionless.

Carly: “Yeah, well I know it’s not your usual way of doing things like slitting throats or kidnapping people by faking their deaths in fires, but it got the job done.” She said with a proud grin.

Helena: “They’re still alive.” She said with annoyance at Carly’s incompetence as she threw the newspaper at her.

Carly stood there in shock as she read the headlines… “PC’s Own Mobster & Lawyer Duo Escape Mob Hit…”.

Carly: “But I thought…” she said angrily stuttering as Helena got impatient.

Helena: “Well, you thought wrong you little twit. I thought you could handle this, I guess I was wrong.” She said angrily and then sighed. “I don’t have time for screw ups. I should have known better than to let a Spencer to do the job.” She said turning around and starting to walk away.

Carly: “Wait.” She said as Helena stopped with a grin playing on her face. She turned around to face Carly.

Carly: “Look, just give me another chance. I can take care of this.” She said with a little desperation in her angry voice.

Helena: “Fine. One more chance but that’s it.” She walked away with Andreas back to her yacht. “Maybe with Corinthos’s money she could afford some tasteful clothes.” She muttered to Andreas.

Carly stood on the docks hitting the rolled up newspaper in her palm.

Carly: “I’ll just have to do a better job this time Sonny. No one hurts me and gets away with it.” She said to herself and walked away.

Jason came out of the shadows. He was in shock from what he had just heard. But he knew he had to tell Sonny. It was time they taught Carly a lesson. Jason suddenly thought about Michael and shook his head in sadness. What would he do without his mother?
