Welcome everyone to Season II of the Step Back From Reality Fan Fiction Awards, a site dedicated to recognizing the talent of Backstreet Boys Fan Fiction Authors! Be sure to read the rules carefully, grab a code, take a look at the categories, then go nominate!

Finally we're back in the swing of things. The slacker of this gig (Ashley -- site constructor) finally got her act together and fixed up the vote page so voting could finally begin. Thanks to everyone for their patience and understanding. Also, there's a new layout to end Season II with. It's simple, we know, but we hope you like it! You may now start sending your votes in!

The nomination period for Season II has ended and we are no longer accepting nominations. We have also had to disqualify several categories due to a lack of nominations. These categories fell under the three(3) minimum nominees mark and resulted in disqualification. If you were nominated in any of the following categories that were disqualified, we apologize and hope you will try again next season!

Also, there has been a change in the awards dates. We are in need of judges for the first wave of voting. If you would like to be a judge for Season II, please click here, read the rules, then fill out the application form. If you know of anyone who would like to be a judge for Season II, send them to the site and have them fill out the application form. You do not need to have any previous judging experience. We're accepting anyone. Categories will be assigned randomly, so you will not be able to ask for any certain category. However, if you are nominated in any categories, you will not be able to participate in the judging of that category. We will be checking each applicant before assigning categories. It's all spelt out on the rules page. This will only be a minor set back for the awards, but if we get enough judges quickly, then we will be able to get on with things. Please keep checking back at the dates for possible further changes.

First off, we have to say this:

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, BRIAN!!!

Next, we want to apologize for the lack of updates lately. The month is almost over and there have been little updates few and far between. But we're back with the updating again and we wanted to leave a little reminder that the nomination for Season II is about to come to a close. The nominated period will officially end on February 29, exactly eight (8) days from now. We will be taking nominations until 12:00AM EST (9:00PM PST; 11:00PM CST) on February 29, so you have until then to get your nominations in. Please take a look at the following list of categories that are in danger of being disqualified. Each category needs AT LEAST three (3) nominees by the end of the nomination period. Two (2) and below in a category by the end of the nomination period will cause that category to be disqualified.

Some of the listed above only need one more nominee to hit the three (3) mark, some two (2), and some have no nominees. Our hope is to have all categories at the five (5) nominee limit. So, if you nominate before the nomination period is over, consider nominating a story for one or more of the categories that are lacking in nominees!

Also, we really need to stress the fact that you must FOLLOW THE RULES! Really people, it's not that hard of a thing to do, so I don't see why some people have trouble doing it. READ the rules, FOLLOW the rules, and you WON'T be penalized.

If you are nominating a story for an award that asks for a specific chapter or character name, please provide that information on your nomination form. We can NOT post your nomination if you do not give us that information.

Another VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: We are now accepting applications for judges. As you all know, the first round of voting is by judges and in order for that to happen, we need to get us some judges. An application form has been set up, so if you would like to be a judge, click here and apply! We need as many judges as we can get and we would greatly appreciate your help!

One more thing (we know, this is the biggest update yet...): PLEASE CHECK THE NOMINEES PAGE TO SEE WHICH CATEGORIES HAVE BEEN CLOSED! WE HAVE RECIEVED MANY NOMINATION FORMS FOR STORIES TO BE NOMINATED IN CATEGORIES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN CLOSED. IT IS VERY IRRITATING WHEN WE COULD BE RECIEVING NOMINATIONS FOR CATEGORIES THAT ARE LACKING NOMINATIONS. IT IS NOT THAT HARD TO CLICK OVER TO THE NOMINEES PAGE TO SEE WHICH CATEGORIES ARE STILL OPEN. AND WE MAKE IT EVEN EASIER FOR YOU GUYS BY LISTING ON THE MAIN PAGE HERE WHICH CATEGORIES HAVE BEEN CLOSED AS THEY CLOSE. ALL YOU ACCOMPLISH BY NOMINATING FOR A CLOSED CATEGORY IS GETTING YOUR NOMINATION FORM DELETED.

1.25.04 {10:02PM} Back from my trip, I'm ready to start adding the nominations, so bere with me and I will try to get them all up as soon as I can. Also, don't forget to spread the word about the awards to get more nominations flowing in.

A few things we would like to stress:

When nominating a story for Nick Carter's Cheesiest Smile Award for Funniest Scene, please include the chapter number where the funniest scene is located.

When nominating a story for Ying-Yang Award for Best Couple, please include the names of the couple.

When nominating a story for Devious Deceptor Award for Best Villain, please include the name of the villain.

An author CANNOT have 2 of their stories nominated for Best Story/Best Unrecognized Story. Same goes for the other 'Best' and 'Best Unrecognized' categories.

Also, just a quick note to save trouble, please check the nominees list to see who is already nominated so you don't end up wasting your time by nominating the same author or story twice.

1.18.04 {11:59PM} Hey everyone! It's Ashley and I just wanted to give a bit of an update! Well, ok, it's not really an update, but more so of a notice. I am currently on a cruise with my family in the Caribbean, which means I will be unable to post any new nominations until I get back home. I would try to post them while I am here, but they charge .35 cents a minute and that does start to build up after a while. we have been recieving everyone's nominations to date, however, when you see them up on the site...won't be for another week. When I am finally able to post the nominations, I will be posting them in order of which we have recieved them. So if you do not see your nomination up once new nominations have been added, the possible reasons for that is either because you didn't follow the rules carefully enough, OR the category you had your nomination for was closed before I got to your nomination. If the latter is the problem in your case, please feel free to re-nominate your story for a category that is open. Also, I do want to say, PLEASE FOLLOW THE RULES COMPLETELY. If you do NOT follow the rules in their entirety, then your nomination(s) will be thrown out and you will be notified about it. Therefore you will have to send in your nomination again. I think that is it for now. I get back home on the 25th, so expect new nominations up around the 25th or 26th! And keep sending in those nominations!!!

1.15.04 {1:10AM} Realized we never added a 'Story Title' slot on the nomination form. So when we recieved the first nomination, and didn't see the story title...yeah, Ashley slapped herself in the forehead. Anyway, that problem is fixed now and there is a slot for the 'Story Title'.

1.13.04 {9:53PM} Added the pic in the background. Finally... Also added the code pics which means the nomination process how now begun, officially starting the Step Back From Reality Fan Fiction Awards -- Season II!!! We're excited and hope you are too! So get to nominating and be sure to read the rules carefully before nominating to prevent us from having to throw out any nominations. Also, keep an eye out for the 'Want To Be A Judge?' application form, which will be coming soon. We will be needing judges for the 1st wave of voting and we will get back to y'all with more information about that soon!

1.8.04 {1:50AM} OMG WE'RE BACK AGAIN!!! And quite soon after the first season now that I think about it. Are we good or what!? And we're back with a new layout too, with hopes that you all will enjoy it. Ashley decided she was going to 'accidently' delete the old files from the first season while she was cleaning the account out, so information from Season I is history. We apologize, as we did have plans to post the Season I winner's list on here again.

Things are being run a bit differently this season (the categories list has been modified [new categories added], the rules modified, and the voting process modified [1st wave will be judged, 2nd wave will be open to the public for voting]). Stay tuned for continual updates and we hope this season of the awards is just as much of a success as last season!
