"Vanessa's Role to Stardom"

"If you thought S&C fans were a force to be reckoned with,
You haven't seen nothing yet!"

This may just be my oppinion, an oppinion of a fan who has taken a great interest in the entertainment industry, but I think in time it may prove to be fact and not just my speculation. I think we should savor the memories of Vanessa Marcil's brief return to General Hospital because, I think Las Vegas is her ticket to true Hollywood fame.

While General Hospital gave Vanessa the foundation of her career and one of daytime's most loved characters, not to mention unbelievable success in the soap industry, I think winning the Daytime Emmy was the finale to her daytime run. A sweet ending for a beautiful run.

Critics can't say enough about her new prime-time gig, Las Vegas. They're predicting it to be the biggest hit of the season with a "drop dead gorgeous cast". I for one completely agree. It makes one wonder, where this show can go wrong. And while I think Las Vegas will be around for a while, I also think this is the beginning for Vanessa, much as Friends was the beginning for Jennifer Aniston.

Jennifer's name has become a household name, due to the success of Friends. It gave her the success she needed to star in many box office hits. I can see Las Vegas breaking the barrier for Vanessa. If Vegas proves to be a big hit, Vanessa can say goodbye to Indie Films and hello to Hollywood box office flicks! God know, she has the acting ability.

Gary Thompson, the producer of Vegas, has said that he was amazed at how good Vanessa's return to General Hospital was good for the soap. He knew when he casted her that she had a very big following. Originally that was the number one perk, but then she blew him away with her talent. This can probably make her the lead actress on this show, playing opposite Josh Duhamel.

Look at what has been done so far: In the promo's for Vegas she has gone from the last one mentioned to the third. She's right after James Caan, and Josh Duhamel. They've featured promos of Josh and Vanessa, when they hadn't aired any of him with the other actresses. (By this I don't include the promos featuring the entire cast). Now Josh has the lead role and will be needing a leading lady- I can definately see Vanessa filling that. Especially from what I just explained. True, they may just be featuring her and her name in the promos because of her following, but only time will tell.

I guess only time will tell but I'm hoping we see Vanessa trotting the red carpet next year at the PRIME TIME Emmy's.
