From Sheila Gillego Logrono: Grade 7- 2nd Yr
You may have forgotten that I was kicked out from my beloved SBS - remember that Sr. Coring incident?  (We had a gripe session and next day she handed a list of girls for suspension -  and I was not on the list.   So I went to her and told her  I should be #1 - and explained that the only reason I I didn't get to participate was because  I was busy copying a book which I had to return.  Anyway, she told me to go to Mother Divine Child and next thing I know - my mother was summoned and I was kicked out and sentenced to St. Domitillas.)  Anyway,  that part of my life I consider as one of my most regrettable incidents in my life - I would have enjoyed 2 more years of the best  times  of  my school life  - SBS gave me the best memories of my childhood - found the ever best friend in my life - Susan, SBS shaped and molded the person I am now - taught me well (except for the 'writing' exercises which totally eluded me) .

My TOP TEN
most memorable moments with the most memorable SBS teachers :

10 - Sr. Patrick - our religion teacher who starts the class with prayer in her soft and very slow  manner  which makes praying  like forever.  Had the habit of nudging her face with whatever little hair is showing from her veil.

9 - Ms. Comanda - English teacher - we were in this open-air classroom where we could see salamanders crossing Alibudbud's high fence- anyway, she was reprimanding me for something I don't remember and Susan passed a note and in the process -got  intercepted  and read it aloud which is effect Susan wrote - not to worry - she's probably stressed from domestic problems - or now I realize it could vey well be she was menopausal-  You know her looks could kill you - her big eyes bulging out at the same time eyebrows raising as if ready to attack.

8 - Sr. Joan - gave us mediational time out and found me celebrating a requiem mass singing 'allelulia'  for my dead pet fish in a nicely made match box - on top of the hill under the katuray tree.

7 - Ms. Zurbano - UP Madrigal glee club teacher who taught us how to sing like angels - I remember all the songs she taught us by heart - thank you Ms. Zurbano

6 - Ms. Reyes - Algebra - a funny character with impish smile - remember her story about her boy classmate who voted her as class muse - after class she waitted outside and beat the crap of him.

5 - Ms. Aguilar - Poor Ms. Aguilar - we were cruel to her - we sure put her in that 'pulang kotse ng kamatayan' - 'Forgive us our trespasses,' Ms. Aguilar - we won't do it again.

4 - Sr. Anthony - HE class was after lunch.  She comes in so fresh smelling babypowder while on the other hand - being that this was an after lunch class - need I say how  we - the young rascals must be smelling -  especially me - I was a very active kid -  I play and run around the hills  and boulders, ride on those fallen trees -    Anyway - that particular day, she called me in front to be her model as she was going to show us how to take measurements to make a dress.  When she asked me to lift up my arms - ...  I don't know how the incident ended -  but there's no way for me to have obliged.

3 - Sr. Soledad - 'Poor Tired Tim', 'Babylon, Where is thy throne?' ... I remember the time she had asked each one of us to recite poetry and when my turn came -  I  did not have anything memorized so I recited   'I Wanna Be Free'  by the Monkees - and she had no idea...

2 - Sr. Claude  - remember the fire drill?  Hey, guys, it's only a fire drill - no need to run for your lives knocking down Sr. Claudes' chart in the doorway.

1 - Sr. Imelda -  most beloved - the coolest - I had the biggest crush on her - as everyone did.  I followed and always watched our for her presence - in modern language - sounds like I was 'stalking' her - crazy girl that I was then.  Anyway Sister, why did you leave us without even saying goodbye-  but it's  okay now-   you have returned and we have grown.
9/27/03 Naomi writes.. Thanks to all of you who were generous and loaned out to the rest of us Nancy Drew books.  I was able to read many of the mysteries through your generosity.  I could finish one from morning til dismissal time (propped under the desk)  and then take one home and return it the next morning.
