Welcome Message from the President & Organizer, Fe Almirante, MD "'If I look at today as I did yesterday. Then tomorrow will just be another day." And so it goes for the days after tomorrow. How time flies! It's more than 30 years since we made each other smile on blue Tuesdays and turned them to bright yellow ones. It is true, so we have come to realize that "The purest kind of friendship is wherein neither person is getting anything, except the enjoyment of eachother's company." I came across a poem years ago, which speaks profoundly of friendship. I am sharing it with you, at the bottom of this message. Growing up together, we complemented each other's strengths and weaknesses. Despite the individual weaknesses, we were the strongest force in the pages of SBS history. We always brought home the bacon - for our class, for our school. We also brought the house down with our pranks and candidness. Often, I find myself reminiscing those happy times we shared, yet I realize that life can't be the same forever and people can't remain with us forever. Sometimes, a smile or a tear appears. I guess, this is all there is to remembering. Too bad, we can only relive the memories, but we cannot turn back the hands of time. So what now? We feel the creaking bones, we see the furrowed foreheads and the unwanted flabs. We are getting old. However, we feel young as ever when we are in each other's company. This website will serve as one of our strongest links; a venue where we can renew our youth. We thank Sheila for her effort and talent. We thank everyone who continue to keep in touch. May you remain forever young at heart. Peace be with you. Say it all the time, to those who give and to those who don't. "You are my friend Because you know the tears are there Before they start to show And then with you, my tears can flow Freely, bitterly, with pain. Slowly, sweetly, lovingly, thoughtfully You say nothing, do nothing, You only stay, and that is all. You are my friend Because some rhythm in you knows exactly When to clasp my hand, When to stand apart, When to stay and When to leave me Alone with my heart. You are my friend Because, together, without words or music, Or candle or shrine, We worship our common deities. Yet you never trespass the sanctuary that is myself And though I stand in awe at the mystery of Your being my friend I stand in greater awe at the mystery Of the sanctity of our friendship. You are my friend Because absent or present, you stay Laughter and strength... and Reproach and praise... and because YOU STAY." |
