Smith, Daniel H., Captain, born 13 June 1816, lived in Glenn Springs TWP. He
was a commissioned officer in one of the companies of the old 45th S.C. Militia
and previously served as an Orderly Sergeant in
9th South Carolina Reserves, Company I, Jun 1862 - Jan 1863.
He married Jane Lanford in Spartanburg 23 February 1843. He died 24 October
1898.

Last entry was dated 5 Jun 1864 for transfer to hospital, Raleigh, NC. He was on service connected disability until his death.
