He enlisted Jul 1864 as 2nd Lieutenant, promoted to Captain when Captain Pooser was detailed for other service, Most likely he was the youngest Captain from South Carolina. He enlisted Aug 1864 and was discharged 12 Apr 1865, Spartanburg. He was a farmer after the war in Columbia, Richland County and was living there in Columbia in 1919.

This unit was mustered in 12 Aug 1864 and surrendered in Spartanburg in April.
