Possible Jag-Stang Reissue? |
A few rumors claim that the legendary guitar is coming back By Kyle Kelley |
Every true Nirvana fan knows that in Kurt's last moths he worked with Fender to design the Fender Jag-Stang. Recently, I have read on a few sites that the Fender Jag-Stang will be reissured. Now, this is pure speculation, and the good folks at Fender.com have not released any statements; though the image above is supposedly a genuine advertisement from Fender. Some of the places I have heard-err, read these things at still have the links up. At nirvanaclub.com's message board, a man claiming to work for Fender has a pretty good story. At jag-stang.com, a post was created bearing the new ad for the guitar (also featured above). Both articles claim the guitar will be listed for seven-hundred bucks. Kurt created the basics of the guitar by taking two pictures of the Fender Jaguar and the Fender Mustang, thus the name jag-stang. With the pictures, he cut each down the middle and lined them up. Look, the upper half is the Mustang and the lower is the jaguar. You can check out Kurt's original drawings right here. According to the guys at Jag-stang.com, the prototype had a Fender Texas Special Single Coil in the neck position and a DiMarzio H-3 Humbucker on the bridge. Well, that's all I can tell you about the rumors. Hopefully they are true, but the price does seem a little high. Maybe thats just wishful thinking, though. hmmm...
