From a Man's Perspective by Peter Franzi |
It's soapbox time! I know, I know. What else is new? But this time I am really fried. What's up with these designers who take an ordinary stitch, tweak it (or not), rename it and then act as if they have reinvented the wheel. My current cause of indigestion: sc tog! I mean really! This is simply a single crochet decrease and everybody knows it, yet somehow your friendly designer isn't happy with using current, accepted terminology. Another bit of ingenuity that is currently stuck in my craw: The Roll Stitch. Give me a break! I haven't been around crochet all that long and even I know this is the time honored and time tested Bullion Stitch. Me thinks a prominent publisher decided that it was an easy bilk of the masses to change the name and foist it upon the crocheting masses with a overreaching campaign. So I ask you fellow hookers: Are we going to sit for this any longer? I say rise up and rebel and put these uppity folks in their place. The next time you encounter any such shenanigans, fire off an email to the culprit(s). Please let them know that we are not as stupid as they would want us to be. |

Holly Jolly Christmas |
Have a holly, jolly Christmas; It's the best time of the year I don't know if there'll be snow, but have a cup of cheer Have a holly, jolly Christmas; And when you walk down the street Say Hello to friends you know and everyone you meet Oh, ho, the mistletoe hung where you can see; Somebody waits for you; Kiss her once for me Have a holly jolly Christmas and in case you didn't hear Oh by golly, have a holly jolly Christmas this year |
