| When I was searching for a title for this collection of poetry and art, I became aware of how many allusions there are within my work to the colour red. Religous symbolism also crops up frequently, the influence of my Catholic upbringing and convent education, no doubt. "Scarlet Nails" is also the title of a prose poem written for my mother.
