HISTORY OF THE SCASBROOKS
Folklore suggests that the name Scasbrook means "of Scarisbrick," a township in the parish of Ormskirk, Lancashire.  The components of the name are said to mean "reef-cliff" + "marshy ground."

Research to date suggests that Gilbert de Scaresbreck is the earliest Scasbrook on record.  In 1303, his descendent, Gilbert de Scarisbreck, settled land in Hurlton, Scarisbrick, and Snape, co. Lancaster, by deed dated 31 Edward I., on his son, also named Gilbert de Scarisbreck.
